by Pen diamond on May 18, 2011 10:50 AM

People cry no caste, no caste then make reservations based on caste.
Down with reservation,
Ban reservation which divides the country today
Equal opportunity for all...

caste madness will subsidize. Indian was the most open society with no veil, burkha ghoonghat etc.. Lets' create the old aura where sex was not condemned, instead discussed. Kamasutra, khajorau all our product. We are not 1 book religion whereby all pleasures are condemned. We believe in festivity of life . Let's create an india which has it's old-new good traditions openness, discussion etc... abolish caste, creed etc... and strive for heaven on earth.

Idiot , the caste system was created to kill the money oriented work in us. people used to work for honor to safeguard the family vocation.
Caste is everywhere, we had the bakers and goldsmiths in England. Same here. Try safeguarding your traditional vocation and see how much satisfaction this gives you.
Now there is no caste and everyone works not for their own interest but for money. Selfish money driven work is all we have.
The kshatriya have produced great kings like Kshatriya pathi Sivaji, kerala maharaja's and even women in that caste like Jhansi were born.
Today you put a SC as a ruler and what happened, the 2G scam.
The caste system was based on Selfless service. Fools like you will never understand. Anyway the system is dead, we dont have the goodness of caste no longer

by Binoy john thottathy on May 17, 2011 10:22 PM  | Hide replies

First of all I want to make it clear that I am not against any minority or dalit. And now for the movie about aarakshan which is a fire to the Indian society because I say that all Indian should be treated equally, if you are a dalit or from other minority communities that does not means that you should be treated in a separate way. For Education, seat should be given on the basis of merit whether you you belong to General or SC/ST.

gentelman

for several decade some section of people got surpressed/denied several right, their generations are 30 to 50 year back as compare with upper caste those who are enjoyed all rights, thats why govt. providing reservation for generation begined people who cann't compatite with gen. category people.

( simple example is take a family in which grantpa, fathers are graduate the IQ level of their kids will be high as compare to labours kids IQ thats why the reservation is must in india for a minimum another decade)

I am sorry, but I support reservations for SC/ST and dalits. They deserve a better chance even if there is some inconvenience to upper castes and they do not get admissions to their preferred colleges and degrees.

Such reservation should continue until SC/ST & dalits are fully on par with upper caste hindus. Maybe it should continue for another 40-50 years till equality of opportunity is achieved among all hindus. Thereafter it may be discontinued.

Ideally reservation can be capped at anywhere between 30-40%. More institutions, universities and colleges and schools should be opened to accomodate all people and keep reservation at 30-40% range.

cat is out of the bag!!!
by prem k on May 17, 2011 09:41 PM  | Hide replies

Now that the cat of reservations is out of the bag, it is going to reach insane levels. Surely one day we would end up in a scenario where politicians will offer 150% reservation and gullible masses will be fighting for the inclusion of their own community into the list of deprived classes. I really worry for the future generations.

In states like Tamil Nadu, reservation has been used as a political tool to dominate and exploit just one single community. No prizes for guessing the name of the community because this community was percieved to be less involved with physically demanding jobs and education was considered their forte. Nobody sees that just after 60 years of reservations, this community today hardly produces any quality doctors, engineers or scientists, though the community had given a celebrated mathematician and another Nobel laureate in Physics in the late 19th century and early part of 20th century. Most of the successful people in this community either have grown up outside TN or belong to an older generation. A recent nobel laureate for the community spent his early years in Gujarat and now is a citizen of a western country.

Yet, in spite of the fact that today there are hardly any members of this community in the 31% open seats, none of the politicians that head the government can see that the reservations need to be channeled to more communities, especially dalits, and not just to the cream of backward classes. I dont see it happening in my lifetime

And the same community has oppressed other communites for decades and centuries and why shed crocodile tears about that? Is that community ready to give up their community identity and join hands with other so called "backward, scheduled" communities? I have seen shameless ones from that community bribing and acquiring SC/BC certificates and get into colleges and then, go abroad only to come back and marry someone from the same community. Isnt that hypocrisy?

Lets do away with caste. Not reservation.

Oppression my foot, what oppression, this was the community that was supposed to beg and eat, this was the community always living in poverty. There are always selfish people in every community. So is the kingly community, there are tyrants but also great leaders like Sivaji, why only target the priestly community. Because they are soft targets right?

i studied in cbseboard AMONG the community you are talking about.

to my knowledge they are doing well in USA,europe and many place.

they have many ways to overcome the disadvantage
due to socio sconomic status and presence of educated relatives.

i have seen that as well.

none of them are struggling to my knowledge.

the people who struggled early werre mostly from MBC's becuase they neither have ficnail muscle or educated people to privde them inforamtion.

the fact is TN is doing well and people across castes are taking up to education.

that's much better in the long term.

yes ideally i am up for equal cinsdieration eventually but not now.

as long i see castesit and communlist mrons of the sangh parivar play the communal card and the caste card,i am convinced
there is brahminism at work that seeks to prevent obc's /dalits from EVER coming up THRU CROOKED MEANS as suggested by manu and shankaracharya.

Doing what you are expected to do well is no crime. And BTW, who told you that RSS and the Sangh work only for the Upper Classes? You must be blind. Just about everyone knows that the poster boy of RSS and BJP, Narendra Modi is an OBC. Satya, go spit your venom on the Congress and the Britishers who divided the country and deprived it of many people who could have contributed. Due to lack of opportunities caused by reservation, many have fled the country and are contributing elsewhere through sheer dint of hard work .. not reservation.
Throwing largesse has become a boon for political parties and a crutch for the so-called backward castes or minorities. If you open your eyes you will notice that most reserved seats are usurped by those who are well-to-do and do not need the reservation. The entire concept of reservation is flawed is a means of division. By all means provide help to those who cannot make the cut, but reservation is a blot on our society. It is way different from Affirmative Action that is practiced elsewhere. Through reservations we are only disabling those who could have contributed, and making parasites of those who should start working.
And if you think Casteism prevails only in Hinduism think again. It prevails in every organization across the world, whether religious or social. We are blindly following the dictates of the scheming Britishers who used Max Muellers flawed study as a basis, which had no evidence to show, only conjecture.

Just imagine if tomorrow India had to assemble a task force for hunting "D" in ground zero on the neighbouring country's land, the first n foremost hurdle that would spring up would be Reservation. Each n every religion, caste, creed, sect would be figthing it out for representation on this squad. & as is the case with all things in India, this plan would be dead even before it was born.

A spoilt brat like Saif who has never had to work for a living and has been born with a silver spoon in his mouth will never know how hard a middle class student has to work for marks. Finally when the results are out he will see that despite getting 90% he couldnt get admission and his classmate got through with 60% marks because of OBC reservation and the joke is the so called 'OBC' is financially much better off than the poor general merit student. Even bigger joke is the OBC student's father had used the same quota for seats and jobs and it passes on from generations. It is called REVERSE DISCRIMINATION

what a hyperbole..her differnce between open seats and BC seats are matter of 5 marks inm many states.

which state is irrational to make it to 30 difference?

for MBC's and sc/st's there is singifnicant difference.

i am not saying obc's desere reservation.

but sc/st's and mbc's certainly do.

Caste based Researvations should continue for another 40-50 years, until equality of status and opportunity is achieved. Then it can be ended.

Economic based reservation can also be added to the tune of 10%. Total reservation should ideally be capped at 30-40% and for this, many new univs, colleges, schools should be established on urgent basis.
