I don't weather others feel this way, I find Anurag and his band as kind of self-indulgent tortured souls who fool themselves that being dark and puke worthy equates to greatness. They are so convinced about this that they feel inadequate or insecure in being themselves and normal.
Problem with this is, darkness in movies though can be fascinating and truly great doesn't work if it is not natural. It ends being derivative and self-indulgent that nobody would enjoy or would be repulsive. It it’s like a street musician pulling trigger on himself assuming that he would be a legend like Kurt Cobain. It is foolish.
So Get a life Anurag, Bejoy and company. Life need not be so tortured after all especially if it is self inflicted.
I know there will a group who will follow Anurag and his ilk like a cult. But have they given some original thought or they just eulogizing to been seen as a cool. I think it’s more of the later

Get a life Rajesh!! Anurag Kashyap, Vishal BHardwaj and Dibakar Banerjee has given us world class cinema n then Kashyap,Bhardwaj are even helping new talent to make good cinema..yes their nmovies are dark but then thats thr choiche..May be u dont like this kind of cinema.. may be u r follower of masala non realistic potboilers but then thats fine..it is ur choiche.. thr are people like me who simply love the kind of cinema Anurag Kashyap makes.. and believe me Shaitaan is indeed a good thriller with reflection of greedy urban young minds which are getting corrupted midst greed and competition...

Predictable response. I do like dark movies and dig on them time to time. Taxi Driver by Martin Scorsese is one of favorites. In fact of the names you mentioned I like Dibakar find him quite good. Vishal is also good at times but inconsistent. Kyshyap is the one find self-indulgent and derivative. That is my view. Infact of the names you mentioned I like Dibakar find him quite good. Much as I agree with Arnab, and Rajesh, Bollywood trend of portraying dark movie is a welcome feature, but its the total adaption to western technology and ethos is which is glaring amiss, I mean Bandit Queen by Shekar Kapur was a true blue dark movie but well depicted keeping in mind the Indian social milieu. The need of the hour is to stick to your choice of theme but let it be keeping in mind the taste and sensibilities of the Indian audience!
Whatta a waste of a review! I guess there should be a new page that reviews reviews. And we could then have similarly stupid folks actually dissecting Raja's reviews! SprayTan than Satan....Ho hum...Yawn!....what are you smoking Raja?
