The real truth
by Lissa on Feb 16, 2011 10:40 AM  | Hide replies

Freida is beautiful. Her facial features have more symmetry and angles than either Kat or Aish. She's not perfect.. everyone has their plus and minus points.

But Freida's major crime is that she has more melanin in her complexion and dares to think she's pretty. oh... that's bad in Indian society. real bad.

so here comes all the insults hurled at her over and over again.

She won't be called beautiful even if she were born with pale skin. Not by indian standards.. Or else she would have suceeded in modelling industry, from where Bips and Priyanka shined on.
Also deepika.. by the she is far better than frieda. Frieda's face is fried.. no expressions. Deepika's eyes have much more expressions than that.

The Freida Pinto saga represents a wrong going on in our society.
by Lissa on Feb 16, 2011 10:35 AM

With the whole Freida Pinto thing, there is a great wrong going on. The low self esteem of the Indian society that *shudders* *shudders*-- how dare a dusky woman of India consider herself pretty.. let alone pursue stardom.. and how dare she even consider pursuing international stardom ! How dare she.

After reading teen blogs like pinkvilla.com - to the highly intellectural Times of India forums-- (where Freida got called all sorts of racial names in the sun, including the tired-out maid responses)--> one thing and one thing alone rings true: We as Indians cannot accept or allow anyone woman to be successful if we do not approve of her. Frankly, we Indians do NOT like Freida's color... let's get to that point.

The forum is filled with Kat or Aish-- but let's think about this. If Kat or Aish were as dusky as Freida, they wouldn't even be half of Freida's looks. Their features are just not sharp (Kat) or they lack an oval face (Aish).

Out in the East, as long as you have less melanin.. yes sir.. you can sport a slight mustache, larger jaws.. have chubbier features-- and still be the belle of the ball. Dare you be dusky and incredibly pretty-- then be ready like Priyanka and Bips to play vamp and 'bad' roles-- and try to work yourself up from the racial hatred.

Is Frieda beautiful? Yes she is. Will she be accepted as beautiful in India? About as much chance as being accepted as Halle Berry would be by the KKK crowd.

good day.

Not everyone likes low-cheekbones or unsymmetrical looks. See.. there is no one perfect face. Every face has its beauty, including Aish, Kat, and Freida: Aishwarya has amazing eyes, but her smile lacks that zest. Kat has an amazing smile, but her features lack that symmetry and she looks almost plain-jane without her smile.

Freida has the symmetry and smile-- but sadly, due to her color, she will never be given credit in her own nation.

If you are searching for symmetry, perhaps Sonali Bendre in her prime would have had the height, symmetry and high cheekbones the Western nations crave for... and still appeal to the Eastern tastes by having 'less melanin'.

Kat looks plain-jane without her smile (face is way tooo long) and Aish's face is too round or square. none of your choices.

frankly, you can't win with any one face. there's always someone who will not like it.

Freida reflects the mindset of the self-hate in India
by emeraldsong@rediffmail.com on Feb 16, 2011 08:39 AM  | Hide replies

Freida is fresh lovely young woman. In her own land, due to her higher-melanin content, she was roaming in shadows... with no acknowledgement of her beauty.

Is she pretty? She sure is. A tall figure and high cheekbones and exquisite symmetry , and a wonderful sunny smile!

But leave it to us desis to diss anyone with dusky color as so-so. If Freida was very fair (and bonus if blue eyes or green), people would go nuts calling her pretty pretty pretty. And frankly, a lot of desis still do not prefer the thin types with high cheekbones (world standard) -- who remind them of the labor class who are thin. They prefer the fuller cheeked belles--- who couldn't get a Sat night date out in NYC-- the 'mousy' types-- so long as they have less melanin.

Is Freida pretty? Yes she is.
Will she be ever accepted as pretty in a land that hates melanin more than crime? No she won't be. That's tragic for our nation.

your words clearly speak for itself. Kat's features are rather un-symmetrical and not as sharp. but yes, she has less melanin.

Deepika Padukone is much more beautiful than Freida.. Can you please explain why she's loved more in India than Freida. Although she has almost the same amount of "melanin" in her skin as Freida and never attempts to hide it.. Also we love her daring attitude and her RK tattoo.

yuck!!!!Freida looks like a chaiwali...with or without make-up. Judging indian beauty by hollywood standards....they can keep their so-called beauties to themselves.....we can do with ash or piggy or dips...or sonakshi

Considering the amount of money that cosmetic industry wishes to make....then definitely she is the "most" prettiest face in India (as we can find more lookalikes minus the makeup).

Why don't we see any of her pics without makeup, just a thought!!

Who is Frieda ?
by varsha.7007@rediffmail.com on Feb 16, 2011 03:03 AM  | Hide replies

Frieda is a slumdog beauty, who has not smiled in life, a Dharavi beauty.

Frieda has forgotten to have food in years.

My maids daughter is even more prettier than Frieda, whose name is Farida

its sad to see the comments of hate, most of which are personal here. She is pretty, you don't agree, so define pretty? I think Indians let their true self out on Internet blogs and portals. A simple "no, she is not pretty" could have done it here people.

Frieda has forgotten to have food in years. -> if you like more voluptutous overweight types , that's fine.

but you should know, Frieda's figure would be a 10 out in the West-- the dieting and no-fat is a big strict beauty marker. so you may not like thin-- but do you need to laugh at it? likewise, someone may laugh at your version of beauty and call it chubby or even fat. is this right?

perhaps you may be shocked that the world might consider your maids prettier than your own stars.
