why this hype and discrimination
by divine on Dec 06, 2011 12:38 PM  | Hide replies

When great artists from down South passes away, there is no mention of it except a scroll below the advertisement box in news channel. No documentary on the artist. Its pity most of the artists from South have been recognised by the West and Europe first then by our government.

When someone passes away in North and in particular Bollywood, every channel keeps churning the same stale news for days, irritating the viewers.

Dev Anand was a good Director but cannot be considered as an versatile Actor like Dilip Kumar. An actor should emote the reality of life in his acting. There are two faces for a human - Abhinaya and Anubhava. Through the actors abhinaya, viewers anubhava should be aroused. This was totally absent in Dev. Another point to be noted, Dev never walked straight or stood erect. Most of Dev's film clicked - thanks to Music and song rendering by Kishore Kumar. Ofcourse new heroines also contributed to his film success not by their acting by their glamor.

Why this hype and discrimination within one country?

Death is Natural. Welcome it gladly.

I can understand your pain that Media has ignored the south Heros,But Comparision DEV SAHIB with Dilip kumar sahib is not fair,no doubt there is no match to Dilip sahib but in MY views both have their identity and originality of their own.

I dont have any pain at all. Its indian mentality. We put Michel Jackson on our Tee Shirt but not Vivekananda or the great Marata King Shivaji or Bagat singh. We write at the back of Tee shirt California but never write any of our cities name but say Bangalore is best and Mumbai is Finance Capital. We dont eat at the best indian restaurants but opt for McDonald or KFC. We fight with vegetable vendors but turn our eyes when politicians loot us.
I have expressed my view and I think I am justified.

There is no need to compare Dev Anand with Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand was a greater entertainer than Dilip Kumar and he is more accepatable to the masses than anybody...You should definitely watch his films Guide and Hare Rama Hare Krishna before putting up such comments, and obviously ...i am from the south...

Dev Anand had his own style, be it his style of walking or standing... he had his own identity...he was not an imitator but others imitated him...

Divine ; Did South mourn when Uttamkumar died in July 1980? His death was duly ackowledged in all over Indian media but Bengal was PARALYZED and CLOSED. Same , naturally, occurs in respective southern states when a regional actor dies, but Hindi films have all India appeal hence all Indian coverage, even if it hurts you.

More over, very bad form even if you don't like a particlar person to criticize him right after his death. Not Indian culture. Reserve your reasoned comments for some other time.

you are worried about Dev's death when he is 88 years than the future of your children who are going to suffer a great with the government policies to keep appeasing the minorities and SCs & STs, to keep their seat intact. Do something for the sake of your children atleast who have not come on this earth of their choice but by compulsion.

Grow up gentleman. Let us not talk about Uttam or Dev or x y z. Did Dev ever know about you let alone think about you. Be realistic. Before sailing in clouds learn to sail on water.

For the Romantic Hero-Dev Anand

We all miss u a lot.He was a very strong and creative person. He never like remakes of movie because it stops creativity. Though, he faces criticism also. I agree that there r many flop movies of dev anand also, but it has not dimnished his fan following and respect. He has some magic. He is not only a star but a starmaker. I luv U Dev anand.
