After a much media hype. I decided to see the movie. I though it was like pazhiraja outstanding movie but this movie urumi was disastrous. The story writer lost thread of main characters. Unncessary songs bored us. There is no sequence of incidents. What is the signinfiance of Tabu and Vidya balan gosd knows. They were brought in ot he movie to create a hype. it is a sheer wastage of money. None of my family members liked it. Please dont watch this movie, if you have a lots of free time and money you can see it.
Finally the new strategy to save Kerala films.... (Particularly Urumi)
First I was surprised when I heard the news that a movie worth 15 crores from Malluwood is releasing with "Pridviraj" as hero and that too directed by Santhosh Sivan...I was shocked… I thought who the hell is going to RISK his money to produce this movie... hearing that the production is from Pridviraj himself, I am some what pacified myself as he will do this or even more than this because he is featuring himself to be one among or better than Mamooty Mohanlal...and he wants a place in Hollywood or in Oscars.
So again a clever thought from the Pridviraj production house to make the movie hit or at least to get some money return from Box office. He has to bring at least the children to the theater at any cost...He came up with a new FORMULA.. An essay competition on the movie.... the winner will get 1 lakh rupees just to woo the children to the theaters…and some more benefits am expecting to be released in the near future…the production house will arrange the cabs (pick and drop) and snacks if they watch the movie..that too complete movie with out sleep… Please check the Malayalam manorama edition dated 3/04/2011 Thrissur edition for the advertisemnt of the essay competition. the new strategy my friend is to do multi starrers like what lal is doing, just get companion of actors who recently gave hits.. that's the new strategy...
Urumi is an outstanding movie.. great performances from prithvi, gene, prabhudeva, jagathi, amol gupte, great direction & cinematography by Santhosh sivan, good script by shankar ramakrishnan, good bgm & songs by deepak dev makes it a must watch....
Santosh Sivan disappoints from a whole movie perspective. But certain shots and locations and very TYPICAL Santhosh Sivan trademark ! I will give 100 / 100 for those very few scenes and the song "Aaro Nee Aaro". But right from the story line, its a disaster. I was completely lost numerous times not understanding anything going around. The cast has been a failure most of the times, Genelia is better off as a chocolate babe, Prabhu Deva's malayalam is too confusing to understand most of the times, and the costumes just not making any sense!
