Answer this - IF this film gets an Oscar and more people around world see this and understands the huge devide among people that exists in India. Is that a Bad thing? Why should not the world know about the true condition that majority of our people live in? What are we hiding from? What have we done personally to change this? This film shames us all.

But why only the filth, poverty and crime be staged on the world map for India, dont we also have a lot of positive things also in our country. the westeners only want to see the darker side and we are happily helping them

ans. 2 nirma...any such portrayal of such indian(home) conditions has to b intended n meant for indians only as, if any political corrective action is to b taken in this context then it is to b by us only, what international comm. wud do except throwing some morsels of aid here n there with sheepish grin on their faces,it hs 2 b a 'show' of realities conditions for home but cannot b 'showcast'on international plateform for their consumption, he/she who made this film using resources of this land got acclaim in the country ; but going any step beyond this ,i say, will b treacherous, n wud only expose a precarious ambition of theirs to achieve interna..acclaim,n things that wud follow this....

systemic failures of our democracy
by shaank on Sep 27, 2010 12:07 PM

this enssmble of ppipli live perhaps puts question mark on efficacy of the 1st pillar(executive)in discharging its assigned duti..., question mark is also on the fourth pillar(media)for its insensivities n lacking in mature professional approach, common denominator however is lacking in honesty of purpose...whether it it is portrayals of kissan in 'pippli live' or the fiasco of CWG which a 'live pippli'....both deliver same message, symptoms of systemic failures of our democracy...but the point whether it is getting across where it shud...

just a satire
by Nagaraj on Sep 27, 2010 11:25 AM

It is just a satire on media. Nothing more. Though one would not expect the director to suggest a solution, at least, she should not have underplayed the problem just for the sake of a few laughs from the audience. That too this being the first film on farmer suicides.
