best film so far....
by Chandanita Pathak on Sep 27, 2010 11:15 AM  | Hide replies

I had seen the movie and I liked it for what it portrayed. Even minor details like motion sickness, reporters analysing Natha's shit, wraping up the goats with woollen garments to protect them from winter chills have all been finely depicted. But I feel the movie is mainly about the kind of reporting that the journalists resolves to these days in the quest of raising their channel's TRP.

Ends up making a strong point why farmers are leaving their profession and moving towards cities.

So, we want to show the world that our farmers commit suicide for Rs. 2 lacs and we indians just watch them die and do nothing.

What an idea sirji.

The movie is a satire on current political and media people in our country. The writer/director somehow succeeded in bringing this to the limelight. Appeciate he efforts of Amir Khan in trying to make a different film and also wish him good luck as this nominated for Oscars.

Good movie but!

I saw this movie with family.Over all a good movie. Like earlier Lagan,Tarejamin pe or Rang de Basanti etc.

However I fail to understand why abusive dialogues were included in the movie.Would the movie perform differently in the market if those dialogues were omitted?

It is like a Industrial projects-require environment clearance-such social projects also need some sanctions!

Ashwani,it is not about commercial performance (in this case). It is about authenticity. At the heart of Peepli Live is the contrast between the very real, neglected world of Indian villages and the superficial glossed up existences of the people who govern India from their ivory towers. That feel of authenticity would have been compromised if the villagers were to talk in chaste Hindi. At the end of the day the real show of abuse in the movie is not the dialogues, it is the callousness on display from India's politicians, bureaucrats and media. That is what should draw our rage, not the dialogues.
