Shammi was the youth symbol
by sundu raman on Oct 19, 2010 11:21 PM  | Hide replies

In my growing days ,Shammi's films were the rage with his handsome looks and naughty anticswhch along with exceptional songs n dance ,the college students were all lining up to see his films. Even today after 40 yrs plus and very many films past, he is still the best ever entertainer. Todays youth also enjoy his songs n dance. Wish him best of health.

His dance may not be dance in the truest sense, but they were unique, something his very own which cannot be aped by anyone.

As for acting, while he might not have been a Dilip Kumar or Amitach, he was pretty good in his own right, had a style all his own which made him a class apart.

Look at his movies, all were super hits and can be watched time and again even after some 40 years

I dont see dance in Shammi kapoor's movements. Even my dogs shrugs its body dust, It does not mean its dance. Its our misfortune to watch our actors dance due to no other choice.

Same holds good for yesteryears'music director. Salil, Roshan, SJ,SD...No comparison! If AR Rehman can get one Oscar, these people should have got in hundreds!

Oscars and Western actors cannot even comparable still facial expressions, forget create the intricate emotional plots that our movies produce.

I have not seen many of the movies after 1996, but there still are brilliant movies like TZP, Lagaan, Krissh, Black and entertainers like Bunty Aur Babli.

I think the 60s, 70s and 80s produced quality movies with themes.

Most Oscar movies dont even come close to some of the classics of that time.

Raj Kapoor's films like Shree 420 and Mera Naam Joker are standing challenges to Hollywood, in terms of the finesse in acting.

In comparison, Hollywood actors look flat, artificial and dumb.

But their plots are very complicated, and effects technology.

But not so much their acting or themes.
