very interesting theories here live in bangalore where this idea is a total failure sterilisation has not reduced the population of dogs why? The stray dog issue is a mere guise to get funds from the government and over the past years crores every has been spent by the NGOs and dog lovers All the dog lovers and NGOs travel in cars and do not walk or drive a two wheeler and have NEVER been chased by a stray
would like the get views from a person bitten by a stray dog and not from the NGOs If these people find a cockroach in their Kitchen unfortunately will they call the government to sterilise it or broom it to death
Another idea; Dogs do not breed or mate all around the year and mate only for procreation and recreation A dog does not mate with a bitch if it comes to know the female is pregnant and very much unlike human beings>Fortunately human beings are aware that they have been sterilised and are not worried or frustrated about the result after sex but have these people 'Informed and educated their stray dogs that they have been sterilsied ' and consequently the dogs are frustrated and become violent This is my observation and needs to be clarified by human beings and not by dogs If we dont have the right to kill stray dogs who can give us the right to sterilise them???

In case you are filling up this place to have your voice heard rahul, please talk sense. Or else please refrain from it. It takes in a lot of effort and planning for NGO's to come up with plans like these. You must be ashamed of yourself!

When ppl dont have enough to eat, who will care about dogs???
As society grows affluent, then they start thinking of the downtrodden.
Rourke comes from an affluent society.
Naturally he is aghast.

shut up ..u make no sense, for the society to be affluent one has to think about the downtrodden even if the downtrodden is one's self that you need to think about. Yours is a case of convenient thinking not critical thinking . Don't come back with your free market garbage etc etc

Mickey Rourke campaigns sterilising stray dogs in India

These NGOs are jobless. There are much more serious issues facing the people. Why dont they use their energies for solving (atleast trying to solve) some of these. Stray dogs are not that important. They should just be got rid off.

In a meeting held by a City Corporation about year ago. There were many voices in favour of strays. But, when the Corp asked if anyone was interested in adopting stray dogs, not one person came forward.

I totally agree with you Sandhya. No one even has the right to get rid of animals. They belong to this world just like you and I. Humans being the most powerful creature on this planet has taken undue advantage of the same and destroyed this planet. Let there be ecological balance. They too deserve a life. I am very proud that celebrities are coming forward to handle social causes. Good job PeTA!
