He can never be compared with ilayaraja who is a real maestro using real musical instruments and not the ready made tunes. It's true that luck and fluke can lift some people like him to this great heights. As once told by a great person he is the best technician in the music industry. Being shy is nothing but to steal the peoples' appreciation. Otherwise I am sure he has all the general characteristics a nomal man has. See, he will use this Jai Ho till the end of his career and life too to maintain his fame. Do you think that a gentleman or a great celebrity of his status shall follow this very ugly tactics? Instead of lifting him always, please appreciate and felicitate the real maestros like Ilayaraja who are actually giving wonderful melodious tunes to be remembered ever.

Although we could argue about his greatness (I tend to think he is very very good), I agree that the shyness / humble demeanor is partly PR. He showed his need for limelight when he sidetracked Sukhwinder for the Oscars. ARR wanted to be on the stage singing the song. I dont necessarily blame him but lets not kid ourselves that he is this quiet humble dude. But I love his earlier work (more monotonous lately with occassional brilliance).

you are very right in pointing that Sukhwinder was sidelined by him also some say that he chooses the best songs in an album for himself so as to sing them

Quite true. In fact if you noticed he has never once given credit to any of his singers. Ofcourse some of his work is Outstanding like Lagaan, Rangeela and Indian to name a few. But yes he is getting monotonous...ram

i think u all people are jealous on his success. u can't compare him with any music director not in india only, infact all over the asia. he is a geuiness music director and very good person as well. he brought different good quality in indian music which is following by all other music director. he continuesly gives his successful experimental music and not worrying for result as he is very much confident on his works. don't be jealous, motivate him for keep continueing his good work. sir arrehman's fan club.

Technology cannot help to create tunes. all music directors have technology why they cannot make creative tunes. actually composing with real instrument live is much easier than composing himself in computer.dont think using computer and composing is easy. it requires lots of patience and time to be spent.ilayaraja used rhythm box and synthesiser. but during MSV time and before not even have rhythm box. it means they are great?.ARRahman is beyond comparison . he is the greatest of all indian composer.

Ilayaraja song from Films Yatra is direct ripoff from Sound of Music..He cannot think music according to a region or global...Even when he was composing tunes for hindi films they sounded like his old tamil tunes...Some people consider MSV better than Ilayaraja...

Even AR Rehman songs are typical in both languages Hindi/ Tamil, tune is film directors choice not only music directors choice. Ilayaraja is the great musician India has ever seen. Ask any Music directors in India they will describe you how ?. I do not say A R Rehman is not good. Every body has there own working style. AR REHMANs Jai ho which won oscar is the useless composition. Just see his work in Alaipayuthey and Bombay 1000 times better than Jai ho..
WHen composition come Ilayaraja is the real and talented composer. He gives the complete notation of the music second by second to each and every instruments this was even appreciated by many RD BURMAN, BAPPI LAHARI, ANU MALICK, LAKSHMIKANTH PYERALAL, UTTAM SINGh (uttam singh is one of the music conductor to Ilayaraja) even MSV worked as condutor for Ilayaraja for so many films, MSV was respected by Raja and asked producers and film directors to put both of their names in this category. (mella thiranthahu kathavu, senthamizh paatu, Thulasi and many more).
Every music director in INDIA is has some thing to get inspired from his songs and many have used his stly oc composition. Ever OSCAR WINNER AR REHMAN is not out of that list.
So Ilayaraj is always great and his compositions are ever green and fresh. ARR sons are seasonal and only few songs of his composition will last long period.
He is Himesh Reshamiya of music nowdays.He is talented music director, no doubt.But worst singer.I'd rather mute my tv set.Pathetic singer like Anu Malik.His 'Vande Mataram' version is really pathetic and disgraceful,sue him for this.Worst Singer,Talented music director.

Regarding his singing his own songs, you nailed it man. I wish he would not sing. If I was signing him up for my movie, I would say to him, "Please direct music for my songs but you are not allowed to sing".
A lot of his songs would have been so much more etched in history if he had picked someone else to sing it....Dil se re, Khwaja mere Khwaja...the list goes on......

Dilip kumar is a disgrace to himself and rest of his race. He has abandoned the faith of his forefathers. He has not only abandoned the beauty of Indian traditional music, he has disfigured it and corrupted it with mix of third grade western music.
