Who will buy Kites in Summer
by Sujit Maharana on May 25, 2010 11:40 AM  | Hide replies

This is bad timing for kites. Who will buy Kites in hot summer. They should have sold kites in Mid January, during Makar Sankranti.

by ABC XYZ on May 25, 2010 11:37 AM

After Hritik and Barbara now its the turn of their Kites to sunk into deep sea. The film was supposed to fly high in the sky but unfortunately went into deep sea - that is the climax of Kites.

Do u think hrithik's popularity is gonna go down after kites?
by anuj on May 25, 2010 11:09 AM

i sincerely believe that he's one of the finest talents in india but in recent times his choice of films has not exactly catered to the indian audiences. out here in india we love watching the over the top krrish,KMG and dhoom2 sorta stuff but some experimental stuff like jodha akbar and kites has not gone down too well with the audiences. what say guys?

KITES POOR OVERSEAS PERFORMANCE
by yogesh on May 25, 2010 10:58 AM

Kites underperformed in the overseas markets. The weekend business was in the $2.60 million region (12 crore). This can be called fair business but as Kites had a huge release it is not upto the mark. The business from major markets is as follows.

UK - £273,958 includes paid previews

North America - $958,773

Middle East - $450,000

Australia - Aus $211,163

IT SEEMS BARBARA MORI IS A BIG HIT AND SHE MAY RULE IN BOLLYWOOD ALSO. SAD FOR HRITIK AFTER WAITING SO LONG INDIAN AUDIENCE IS DISAPPOINTED.

EVEN BEING HERO ALL THE TIME HE WAS RUNNING FOR HIS LIFE. THE SACRIFICE OF LIFE WAS DONE BY BARBARA TO SAVE HIS LIFE.

EXCEPT FOR DANCE MOVES NO HEROISM, NO WINNING ACTION, AND TRAGIC END ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FATE OF FILM.

In fact, I am a die hard fan of Hrithik. Still, I could say confidently that this movie is only for "A" grade audiences. But then in India, almost 75 percent of the population is "B" grade and "C" grade. I am sure it's a flop movie in India, as "KITES" is meant for NRI Indians. Director Anurag Basu should come out with a story that could be accepted by mass audiences of India. Technical brilliance is not everything to make a movie hit in India. It's the story and the way it is narrated (in Indian style)that matters much. Anyway, opinion varies person to person.

Kites Crashes on Monday
by yogesh on May 25, 2010 10:40 AM

The collections of Kites came down heavily on Monday. This was expected as the film has been rejected by the public.

The four day nett business is around 33 crore nett. This includes paid previews. The first week will struggle to touch 40 crore nett and is likely to finish around the 39 crore nett mark.

Overall the film is likely to have 21.50 crore plus distributor share in week one but may not even touch 25 crore in its lifetime business which would mean flop Indian theatrical business for Kites.

Rediff is wrong Kites box office collection: Rs 65 crore on opening weekend
The Hrithik Roshan-Barbara Mori starrer ‘Kites’, has already crossed over Rs 65 crore worldwide on the opening day. It also grossed more than 21 crore on the opening day. With this, the movie takes the place of being the second highest opening-day grosser after the big hit, 3 Idiots.
