People are missing point ...
by Chetan Aurangabadkar on Aug 16, 2010 12:53 AM

Peepli[Live] isn't on farmer suicide, not about media.

The film is direct attack on government, policies, babu dome. And surprise surprise.... the movie making itself!

All Hindu's please take note that NDTV(Hindu basher) is co-producer of this film. So you can imagine the outcome of this whole episode. They will try their every bit to show farmers in poor taste. This story is not highlightening the core problem of farmer suicides. Farmers are commiting suicides because of govt. policies. But aamir khan another muslim(congres loving) trying his best to show farmers as real culprits. Please go to the base of real problem not for the sake of garnering votes for congress.

Again amir proves that he is not Rajni Kanth or amitabh or dilip. He is AMIR KHAN.
TAre Zamin Par, 3 Idiots and now Peepli. people like amir can bring revolution with out even knowing that its happening. Watch out for serious realty with mix emotions, laughing and crying at hte same same time.

You sound like a frustrated marathiBhau. It is not the fault of Hindi speaking people that marathi film industry never developed beyond Dada Kondke films. GhatiCulture is to blame for the low quality of marathi films. Now you should beg Raj Thakre to save your industry.

Stolen from Marathi film
by Ganesh Johnson on Aug 13, 2010 05:39 PM  | Hide replies

This storyline is suspiciously similar to the Marathi film released last year- Gabhricha Paus (That damned Rain). The protagonist, a poor farmer, who is at his wits end, and his wife and mother, who suspect that he'll commit suicide, and therefore depute their little boy to keep a watch on the farmer, portrayed very touchingly a dark comedy of the Vidarbha farmer's life that ultimately ends sadly.

This movie's storyline is very similar. Seems to me like Aamir is making a career out of stealing others ideas and not giving credit (3 Idiots and the Chetan Bhagat controversy ...)

The storyline might be similar to the movie you've mentioned, but he is not 'stealing' others' idea, its produced by him, he is not taking the credit for story/script.
And seriously, before watching Three Idiots, I was also under impression that its largely based on FIVE POINT SOMEONE, but after watching the movie I realized, it has less than 5% similarity with the book. Other than definition of 'Machine' and one of the lead characters falling in love with dean's daughter, there aren't many similarities.
More than anything, when an artwork is copied or used as an inspiration, the essence should not be lost. That's what really matters.
Even if its a Rip of the Marathi movie, how many in India will ever get to see 'Gabhricha Paus' due to language constraints? It is appreciable that some people are investing in cinema which is more than masaala-naach gaana routine. I hope more such cinemas should reach the audience who wants to watch sensible cinema.

Looks like you do not understand concept of ethics. You must be brain dead if you think 3 idiot is less than 5% of five point someone. Yet another possibility is that you have not read the book.

There is another possibility that you might have read the book with but haven't understood it at all. Do you have behavioral problems or something? FPS in one of my favorite books, and I do not find the movie very similar to the book. I think everyone out there is allowed to have different perspectives, so I have mine. Book was pure fun..whereas movie goes beyond just fun part..it also has a message.
I believe that good art/movies/music should reach to all people, that is ethics for me. The movie shows that Chatur who had fulfilled his dollar dreams, could not match the real success of Phunsuk Wangdu. Book has not touched this aspect, nor it has left any message. And being an audio visual medium, cinema can reach out the way any novel written in English can never reach out in India.

U can find hundreds of movies with similar story line.
please dont panic.

Akaler sandhane , is another example.

See this kind of theme is universal.
every love story or action story also has same theme.

now dont come out and blasting, ithis is copied, that is copied?

How many people have watched the movie u mentioned?
But more people would watch this because the language is known to all.

so appreciate the thinking
