Entertainment cost..
by amol pardeshi on Aug 12, 2010 04:56 PM  | Hide replies

with 4 family members i have to almost spend 1000 bucks for entertainment of myself and my family... The facts and ruggedness of indian society is dripping from news channels and today's serial and reality shows. To escape my self for 3hrs from all these horrors...Peepli no doubt to be good movie... dont want to get horrified pay.... and this doctored publicity of peepli is more grimming....

Based upon the culture of UP and Bihar
by Shaleen Sinha on Aug 12, 2010 04:54 PM  | Hide replies

The best thing about this movie is that it is based upon the rural culture of UP and Bihar. Therefore, I don't understand why should marathis and other non-HIndi speakers see this film? Because, I will never watch a marathi film in my life, even if someone pays me a million rupees.

sorry shaleen your information is wrong, this movie is inspired by number of suicides committed by farmers in maharashtra and in response to that MAh government devised compensation policy to victim's family. Still it is the story of whole india.

Listen to the language used in songs like ManhgaiDayan and the that of dialogues. It is entirely based in the rural UP/Bihar.

ONLY SOLUTION
by Tushar Roy on Aug 12, 2010 04:50 PM  | Hide replies

A.      In India children are being produced in quantity and not in quality,
Parents should be responsible for their well being. A law for punishing
Parents, in case they fail to protect their children is genuinely required.
Children are being exploited by so called mentally ill parents,
Children are taken as granted. If every child is taken care by his/her
Parent, then there will be no rush for free food, medical aid etc etc.
NGO should concentrate on followings;
1.      Educating parents for their parenting abilities
instead of running after protecting malnourished children.
2.      Spread the awareness of hygiene.
B.      Allow religion worships inside one’s home only.

serious issue treated with fun for own benefit
by SUNIL SHARMA on Aug 12, 2010 04:35 PM  | Hide replies

Making fun of some some ones death is not a good job if there is a serious issue behind the death.. if some is committing suicide bcz of poverty & hunger and u are creating fun by saying satire is a something which u are making of your own benefit not for society... these issues are very strong and heartbreaking not suitable for fun as it never put positive effect on society with this kind of treatment.
Just to make money by present these issues as a comedy is not and responsible job for a Citizen.
Amir Khan is a good film maker i would suggest him to make strong film any film which shows the Poverty, stupidity & dark side of India can get award from most of the festivals of western country...

dear sunil and SK- you must appreciate how ANUSHA got the flash for her plot.unless you showcase the apathy of our politicians and babus nothing will happen here. if you do not show case our social gaps no one will come forward to fill it. NOT SHOWING THE SOCIAL GAPS IS LIKE FEELING THAT THERE ARE NO POT HOLES IN A RAIN FILLED ROAD OF INDIA AND BLINDLY TRYING TO DRIVE.I do not know why we are so upset when socially stirring movies are appreciated by the western world. INSTEAD MAKE INDIA SO RICH SO THAT ANUSHAS ARE LEFT WITH NO PLOTS TO EXPLOIT.FOR THAT TO HAPPEN SOMEONE MUST TAKE THE FIRST STEP OF OPENING THE GUTTER LID. LET US BE HONEST -- HOW MANY OF THE NETIZENS DID ANYTHING ABOUT THE FARMER SUICIDE. THE LEAST WE CAN DO IS TO WATCH THIS MOVIE AND ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO HANDLE IMPORTANT ISSUES IN OUR FILMS .

India's impoverished population is making for good internationally marketable cinema.

Americans and Europeans are sure to watch them like caged exotic animals in zoos.

I don't want to take prejudices about the movie, but my modest intellect says 'how can you market actual sufferings of India's poor farmers'?

Another slum movie attempting International recognition.

But i think the plight of the farmers, regular suicides need to be told and hats off to them for attempting this. anytime better than the chick flicks and so called 'mainstream' cinema!

This isnt about 'marketing' actual sufferings of India's poor farmers as much as bringing to the fore to even urban indians leave alone Europeans & Americans, the pathetic state of being our very own farmers experience in their daily lives. Most of us are't even aware of the plight of our farmers & what the government is not doing for their impoverished lives! We should encourage such cinema rather than the absurd NRI escapist flicks that are consistently made by our 'A list' film-makers. The challenge is in making such subject entertaining while also driving home the point where India really stands & her real issues. The word 'marketing' in India for some reason is a bad word & we for some reason do not want to accept the harsh, biter realities of our country & how much our political leaders loot us everyday of our lives here.

Its wonderful to know that Aamir, believes in what he is doing and doesn't bow down to bollywood pressure by resorting to run-of-the-mill-themes.

More power to you Aamir
