Feeling cheated by Raavan
by sandeep on Jun 19, 2010 07:39 PM  | Hide replies

One more tamil foolish movie. Wasted 150 rs and precious time.Once again i really feel cheated for the bloody hype. This has happened for the 4th time . First it was shivaji then dashvataram then bheema and now ravan.

Its hightime people especially tamil folks wake up to the tactics of our stupid tamil film industry. They are hyping stupid movies and fooling all of us again and again.

They have restricted all other language movies and are forcing tamil people to watch only these crazy movies.
All foolish tamil movies are becoming superhit for namesake because of no competition and not because of any greatness.Since all other language movies are restricted our people have no choice other than to watch these crap tamil movies.
This, our folks are projecting as a strength by our self declared legends in tamil filmland who are basically there to fool tamil public.

It outright stupidity of our people to keep supporting this idiotic legends and in the process our theaters are going bankraupt.

Time has come to open for competion in tamilnadu. We cannot be eating rice sambar all along and all other state people enjoy good movies from everywhere.
Competion can only improve things in kollywood.

Sandeep, brainy people can only understand such type of movie... that's the reason he make it in two languages and duped it in other languages and never mind if you understand it or not..

Missing - Mani Ratnam of the 90s
by Tethys on Jun 19, 2010 04:17 PM  | Hide replies

The movie is nothing short of stupidity and wonder how and why Mani Ratnam came up with such a poorly scripted story.....It is one thing to fanatise about what happened between Raavan and Sita but to make a movie just to showcase that with scant regard for anything else from shot one is plain silly....
Picture this....Vikram sees Ash trying to commit suicide and saves her and suddenly starts..."usurey poguthey" song..mind you this happens on day one of their kidnapping so much for a guy like Veera who kidnaps with so much revenge falls for Ash suddenly seeing her valour and beauty....beats me Mani that u can come up with such poor characterisation. As for rest of the proceedings, I got the feeling that they were merely there to try and develop the liking between Raavan and Sita..otherwise why would somebody kidnapped not try and escape but try to get up close and personal..(ya even hand touches) with the kidnapper...huh
Worst is the climax..seriously...why on earth will a sensible female come all the way to the guy who kidnapped to ask the reason why her husband suspects her and asks what he told her husband..huh.unless she is a retard she can very well ask her husband after a few days once things have settled down...
I feel sorry for Vikram as he is the only saving grace of the movie..one more thing Mani please get actresses who can speak the language it looks awful to see Ash mouth the tamil dialogues..

LAST WORD - BOTH RAMA (in mythology) AN

Mani Ratnam lost it when he and Ilayaraja split. They should try a film together. Mani Ratnam these days is more of a marketing guy than and a film maker.

Showing Raavan
by Bogi Chako on Jun 19, 2010 11:15 AM  | Hide replies

Its not everyone's cup of coffee to show off Raavan in a positive frame.

Only NTR could pull it off successfully, multiple times, in his classics. He directed & acted in Raavan's character in such a manner that we come to love Raavan.

Going by the response/reviews, Mani could just show Raavan as a howling caricature. One need to know Ramayana in & out to get the real Raavana. Only NTR's directorial eye could notice Raavan's nuances.

Hats-off to NTR.

As if this film is an ultimate classic. Nowhere! Its like Avatar, all style and no substance. But like Avatar, this one doesnt have hope at the BO because our audiences are much more smarter and the technical finesse in this film is not as good as Avatar to bring in the audiences.
