Lets review My Name is Khan
by Sameer Bhagwat on Feb 11, 2010 04:16 AM  | Hide replies

WHAT IT'S ABOUT: When the maestro of romance teams up with celluloid's most adored pair, you know there's magic waiting to happen. Get set for the year's best offering so far. My Name Is Khan has all the gloss you expect from a KJo film -- only this time, it comes along with a new sensibility and a bolder theme. The film is about Rizwan Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) who suffers from Asperger's Syndrome, a birth disorder. Rizwan has problems in his social interactions. After his mother's (Zarina Wahab) death, his US-based younger brother (Jimmy Shergill) takes him to San Francisco where Rizwan starts working as a salesman. On one of his calls, he encounters Mandira (Kajol) and his life changes. Mandira is a single mother, falls in love with Rizwan in an improbable yet utterly romantic manner. They get married and, life seems till (9/11) changes it all. Rizwan and Mandira are torn apart after they face a monumental tragedy as victims of racism. To win Mandira back, Rizwan is faced with the most daunting task of all. And thus begins his journey -- across states, cultures, people, racial profiling and hatred. In his quest to rediscover his lost love, how Rizwan emerges as the most unlikely hero forms the crux of the film.

WHAT'S NOT: In a near-perfect film, the only over-the-top part is Rizwan's return to a flood-hit small town to save the African-American family. It's stands out because everything else is so understated. And then the part about the media brigade landing there followed

How do you know the story so intricately even before its release? It seems that either you are promoting the film or you have been overwhelmed by the promos shown on screen.

Movies are always about people and not about Hindu and Muslims. Even if they serve as a backdrop.

Its your thinking that is the problem

It seems Shahrukh Khan wants to create fan following in Middle East countries with this movie. But he forgets that his fan following may get a beating in India with the same novie. At the point of entry into films, Shahrukh never remembered his surname and never uttered Inshallah after each of his sentences. But after gaining popularity in India, that too, with the help of other communities, he has become a perfect muzzy.

Shiv Sena has no issue
by md azam on Feb 10, 2010 10:30 PM  | Hide replies

Shiv Sena has no issue & nothing to do for the development of Mumbai.
Creating a mess, breaking laws, threatening Big B, SRK...etc... what's the moto.... only the popularity....
Can they threat the real threats of our country like Terrorists, Naxals if they have the power.

Why is your community most of the time concerned with its false pride and not its development. Don't think of the betterment of other communities and humanity in general if your religion prohibits it, but atleast you can develop your community yourself. Why are you representing yourself as victim by making films like MNIK, rather other communities are victims of terrorism sponsored by your religion since ages.

The only party to have saved 'muslims' in mumbai riots? Are you joking? Bcoz its not funny! The Srikrishna commission is gatherng dust somewhere and just proving that Indian judicial system simply does not have the capability to conclude cases of crimes against humanity.

Pls dont be in denail. These are mass murderers you are glorifying.
