Exactly, she prefers to live it this way.
She has been there right at the top for a great number of years, and had said previously that acting takes a toll and she doesn't feel the motivation to work anymore..
The choice is hers.
we as fans will always remember her as one of the best leading ladies the industry has ever produced.

Katrina is nowhere near madhuri, neither in beauty nor in talent... she looked like a dream when she was 26... and forget acting... Kat does not have it in her to match madhuri..
many actresses like kajol, kareena, vidya, rani and ash have bettered her work..she was just average..she only benefitted bcz during those days there was not much competition

Kajol and Rani are better performers but are not quite as beautiful. Ash is plastic, just everything about her is fake. Vidya is not in the same league.. Madhuri is elegant, graceful and more Indian than the size zero stics that we do today. You are probably right about the competition, but Madhuri is very special indeed.

If madhuri got good roles as today's actresses get, she would have done wonders.. she would have been in the league of nutan, nargis etc.. but the decade she belonged to only had roles like mohini, pooja, nisha, etc etc which were only to showcase her beauty, or to the max, her dancing talent... she never got to play a michelle as rani, or umrao jaan or jodha as ash got to play, or the roles vidya played in paa n parineeta... if u want to compare, do keep in mind the kind of work each has done... still the lady reigned for a decade...

Kajol and Rani are better performers of course! But they are not what can be called "Complete packages" like Madhuri. Madhuri is beautiful, a great dancer and a good actress too! Kajol and Rani shine only when given author backed roles! But Madhuri can pull off even secondary roles with aplomb(Devdas,Lajja for instance)! Even in non sense masala fare, she comes triumphs(Raja, Yaarana for instance).Vidya is relatively better! Paa, Ishqiya,Lage Raho, Bhool Bhulaiyaa,Parineeta are better examples! But what unites Kajol,Rani and Vidya are that the overall setup/film/director/script everything should be good for them to shine. They definitely cant pull up weaker films which Madhuri did and how! And she had even superior competitors like Sridevi and Juhi! She didnt fade away with the arrival of Karishma, Kajol, manisha, raveena and shilpa! In fact she was there in the league for over 18 years and she definitely faced competition with different generation of actresses!

as for competition there were at least 5/6 names that were constantly put against madhuri one by one but no one could reach her level.

beta mustufa, so what if 90s have gone? madhuri is thousand times better than any of today's heroines. she's THE BEST.
