There are superstars who are icons for one generation, and are admired by succeeding genrations, but not really icons for them. Dev Anand was an iconic figure for at least two generations of Hindi filmgoers, if not for more. The style, the charisma, the talk, the walk ... these will remain etched in our memories forever. And he brought some very good stories to the screen, and some wonderful talents to the fore in the industry as well. Rest in peace, Dev Sahab, you will remain at a very special place in our hearts.
One may question about 'Chargesheet', but what is the overall standard of the present hindi movies ? Everything is pirated, copied or dubbed.
Devanand sab has atleast tried a new experiment and that too at the age of 87. From where he got such terrific energy ? Hats off you to you Devsab. We love you and respect you and request you to make a film like 'GUIDE'.
Times have changed, he needs to be supported with smart technicians who understand old movie making magicians and incorporate their thought in modern films without hurting their creative process. Only then Dev Saabs films will appeal to the new generations. Everyone know Chargesheet will be a big flop again, what Dev saab thinks is mindblowing is actually his point of view, todays generation has to be shown films in different style.
Since you knew Guru Dutt so well, Devji please make a film on him. Aamir Khan would play the role well. You can write the story screenplay etc, but direction give it to Shyam Benegal.
