Akash Balwante
One of the best movie based on Human emotions.
by Akash Balwante on Sep 20, 2010 09:48 AM

I am not a malayali guy. This is my third malayalam movie. The concept is new to malayalam movies but not for other industries. There are number of movies made on this concept like dus kahaniyan, darna mana hai, darna zaroori hai etc. Some of them are succeeds.
But it is good thing that malayali people welcomes this kind of experiment. So I think malayali viewers are more matured than Hindi people.
I liked almost all stories. All stories are based on different human emotions potrayed beautifully by both actors and directors.
Especially, I liked Nostalgia,Happy Journey,Makal,Bridge,Off season.
I think the subject is innovative. We should encourage and thank Ranjith for a such different experience.
My rating for this movie is 3.5/5.

"bridge" is outstanding, "happy journey" is cool.. "nostalgia" is realistic, rest all average. and this rediff review is utter rubbish.

Must Watch

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie that is devoid of 'over the top' performances. This movie proves that Malayalam film industry is capable of producing movies of class and of artistic value. The movie treats subjects that are very relevant to our times with zest and flavor. The 10 segments are presented in an a tasteful way. A must see!

Excellent Movie

I saw this movie in Washington DC along with a few friends. I was impressed with the new treatment the directors have adopted for this movie. Not the regular 'over the top' performances we usually see in current movies. I am happy to see that our movie folks are indeed capable of making such artistic statements. Let us hope other mainstream movies adopt such an approach.

A proud filim for All Malayalees

I gave 5 star for this movie. I think all fans associations are just pretending that they are the fans of their favourate stars and not taking any effort to see all the movies of their favourate stars

Very true Rajesh. Fans association guys are like unfaithful wives. All they care about is crass entertainment. If they don't get it, they'll ditch the stars. Pitiest part is that the stars, including greats like Mammootty and Lal, too are afraid of these goons. Good that they at least agreed to do a different effort like this. Given a chance, even Dileep can truly act. Given a chance, even a masala-maker like Anvar Rasheed can show class. See this, and you'll know that class need not mean award movies. Congrats to Kerala Cafe team.

A Gift for Movie Lovers
by Jayesh George on Oct 31, 2009 01:33 PM

Dear Movie Lovers..I saw the movie Kerala Cafe on Oct9, frm Abudhabi during its int. premiere in Middle East Film festivel. This is a realstic movie which are slices of real life. Such attempts should be appreciated. Well done Renjith n Gang. almost all movies are emotioanlly disturbing and so touching. Best of the lot was Bridge from Anwar Rasheed. It was surprizng to c anwar making a top class realistic movie. Other Good picks are Happy Journey by Anjali, Puram Kazhchakal from Laljose, Island Express from debutant Sankar ramakrishanan and Makal from Revathi. Shamaprasad too surprises with a movie which is sarcastic rather than being serious. Its a must watch film for all those who loves good cinema..Enjoy n appreciate this experimental cinema so that we can see more new genere movies.

Brilliant effort and brilliant result
by Sabu Cherian on Oct 30, 2009 05:56 PM

This is a different concept and made with good intentions. For those who lament the state of Malayalam cinema today whenever a 'Love in Singapore' or an 'Alibhai' gets released, this is the change that you were waiting for. 10 short stories woven around a cafe and never a boring moment. The rediff reviewer has not done a great job, rediff...pls change the reviewer.
