Love and hate
by John Koli on Mar 14, 2009 01:38 PM  | Hide replies

Incidentally, does anyone remember what Rahman said at the oscars. He had to choose between love and hate and he chose love. The only major choice he had to make in his like was his religion. I wonder which religion he means by `hate.'
Incidentally, I like his earlier compositions, but his current compositions are nowhere compared to some of the other current composers.

Dont confuse yourself with too many unwanted thoughts. In fact, every successful person in life, always chooses 'love' over 'hate', that is how they have come up.

NOTHING SUCCEEDS LIKE SUCCESS. REHMAN'S SUCCESS SHOULD BE REJOICED BY EACH ONE OF US. TAKE FROM NAUSHAD GHULAM HAIDER SHANKAR JAIKISHEN RAVI RAMCHANDRA LAXMI KANT PYARELALL AND MANY OF THE NEW ONES ARE VERY GOOD. IF SOME ONE WINS NOBEL PRIZE DOESN'T MEAN OTHER SCIENTISTS OR ACTIVISTS IN THEIR FIELD.

but western music wayyyyyyyyyyyy
deifferent to ours. They have much heavier beats, much less finesse (music that is popular, not symphony stuff) etc rather than our subtle variations of soft melodies.

That is why it appealed to them.

What many of you tend to forget is that he has got lots and lots of Oscar deserving music in Tamil. He deserved an Oscar long back for his Tamil music.

Oscar is not given for the best work that you have done in your career. Oscar is given for the best soundtrack of that particular year, which qualified as a Oscar nomination. SDM qualified because it was an English movie. It was the soundtrack which was liked by most members of the Academy jury and so it won.
The jury didnt sit and listen to Taal and Dil Se and say "We didnt give an Oscar for this so we cant give him for SDM as they are better than SDM".

the oscars have come and gone and people still don't get it. Rahman was competing for the best soundtrack of this year and the jury felt that it was the best. SDM was not nominated with roja, lagaan and many other soundtracks which rahman has done. We should be proud of rahman not because he has won an oscar but he has put indian popular music on the global map. Just because rahman won the oscars Other great composers contribution won't be forgotten, rahman himself told that god has selected him to take the award on their behalf, so why complain and compare him with others. He has his own space and he is a damn good composer, there are no two ways about it.

absolutely right. Unfortunately some people rejoice Indias difficulties and dislike its progress. If we deman secular value, then we should behave accordingly.Whatever we say, we also say GOD IS ONE.

First, change your user name to gutter or slumdog. OM does not suit your disguised character. If you thought that ARR has churned out better stuff than the legends of HFM like SJ, SDB, you are living in fool's paradise.

Good and melodious music doesn't age and fade away but will remain evergreen in the hearts of music lovers, young or old.

I still go with my remarks that JaiHo will be forgotten soon.

BTW, you think those who dislike present day music are old? Gimme a break man!

yes, AR has given better music in many movies. But SDM seems to give some relief to some who have been tarnished as violent.
