IPL was a hit due to people of Asian origin most of them being indian, so is bollywood. We have so much population outside india that we can easily sell entertainment around the globe to the Indian diaspora. Its never the local americans (not of indian orgin) that watch and endure indian tamasha.
there are very few americans who would be intrested in bollywood dances. maybe just a handful of people. there are 50 states in the USA and there is less than 1% of the american population who are intrested. so this article like many others is just hog wash... Yawnnnn !! wat a bore!!

Time and again I read some articles regarding how Indian things are fascinating Americans and world. Is it really true or just imagination of media. As per this current news Bollywood has impressed America. What I see in reality is Hollywood cinemas are far better than Bollywood or for that matter any indian vernacular cinemas. Infact many Indian movies are straight copy of Hollywood movies. Second I hear lot of time is how Indians are technologically making impression in US. Though it is true, engineers from other nations like Germany, Japan, Russia, China also are not far behind. If we take this argument of Indians being smarter than Americans, question is why Indians cannot make software products / innovations as American companies. There are very very few Indian nobel prize winners from India. In fact in last 20-25 years no Indian settled in India ( not an NRI ) has received Nobel prize. Indians are getting lot of awards in literature like Bookings etc , but looking at class of books and writers who have received this award ( except msy be Salman Rushdie and Vikram Sheth) I have started doubting the award itself. It is good to see Indians making mark in different fields but it will not be right to exaggerate our achievements and create false impression that whole of world is just waiting for Indian contribution / waizardy to be unleasded in different fields. There are many smart people in other countries and cultures also.

Dude, if your daughter comes 3rd in her class are you going to ignore her achievement & praise only the girl who came first? Other countries have their achievers & we have ours. They recognise their folks & we do it for ours. Anything wrong?

India is not a breeding ground for innovations. There are multiples factors. figure it out yourself

What you said is only one side of the coin. How many real talented people want to settle in India tell me first. There are fields like genetic engineering, cryogenics, Automobile advancements, etc etc which do not provide much oppertunities for exploring in India because of politics, ignorance and lack of funds. Any foriegn locals be it even Singapur or Dubai(leave aside USA, Germany, Japan, Russia) are providing far better living standards to its people. There is a term called brain drain where India is loosing on superior brains to these countries. Visit any top company in a foriegn country you would be surprised to see he number of Indians working in those companies. "Its better to have brain drain than having brain in the drain"-thinks many of these NRIs who are getting recognition outside there own country. Untill and unless the whole system changes round here its difficult to get achievers from India. Many achievers in foreign countries have there roots from India. So foreigners are genuinly interested in knowing more about Indian culture and heritage which gives birth to all these brilliant brains. Some years back people had the impression that India is a country which only had sadhus and snake charmers roaming around. Now they are realising the true potential of us Indians and so they are fascinated about this country. My point is that exaggerate or not India is a place of immense interest for other people. They are afraid India can be a super power soon.

I really do not feel anyone is afraid of that India will be super power. I see remote possibility of that with US,China, Germay , Japan etc still going strong compared to India. Yes Any big company in US has lot of Indians but there are equal number of chinese or europeans. In fact many times I have seen europeans having knowledge of things too deep and complete as compared to Indians who try to do too many things at same time.

It is this mentality that NO ONE else has any culture and we Indians are royals becoz of our culture that is causing problems for Indian students in australia and the US.The students are getting whacked becoz of this superiority complex. You live there, eat their food, earn off the land and then abuse them and their "culture" and parade yourself as some moral guardian of the world. You go to the US and live like an american - dont like their culture, dont go there. Dont go there and parade your self styled superiority there and cry foul when whacked.
When will clowns like you wake up and stop resting on our glorious past ?
