The 80s also witnessed the 1984 riots - the bloodiest massacre in Independent India.the 80s was the worst period in Indian history especially for Sikhs.

I am not a Sikh. What you said is true. Sikhs had to undergo a lot of pain. I know it was traumatic and still is to all those affected families. Some wounds never heal. Pain gives strength. The world knows the Sikhs have strength and endurance. We admire them.

You only remember bad, yes we need to rememeber all in this time machine, Amithab, Rishi, Neetu, Zeenat and RDB
No TV serial has been made on 1984 riots. No TV serial has tried to capture the pain and trauma that Sikh community went through during that period. Shame on Indian TV industry which projects Sikhs in bad light only.

I think there was a serial on the 1984 riots starring Kanwaljit. If I am not mistaken it was telecast on DD.
But guys if you remember Hum Log u must in ur 30s !!! Old men and Women of yester India who were a part of the economic revolution you brought India to where it is ...
Probably when rediff writes about it, u wont know it but just wanted to say THANKS to you guys !!
Ur hard work in IT created todays India !! Keep up the good work...ur also heroes !!!!
I miss those moments and indeed it brings tears to my eyes. It was so much fun during those days... Vikram Betaal,Dada Dadi ki kahaaniyaan,Appu aur Papu,Kachi Dhoop...great serials. and yes...those days...things were so easy and cool. No internet,no mobile phones,no 24 hour channels. The children of those times were blessed with innocence. And look at the children of today. I admit they are sharper now and are more informed. But,the innocence is somewhere lost... Blame it on MTV and others :(

Lovely golden old times and programmes on DD. Wonderful years growing up those days. - Hum Log - Buniyad - Intezaar - Chunauti - Wagle ki duniya - Lifeline - Mungerilal ke sapne - Nukkad - more and more
Life was a lot simpler those days: no faltu channels and bakwas programmes; no Internet; no globalisation; less tension and stress in life; no America-this America-that; no tension of real estate; no tension of loans; no tension of share markets; world was less polarised; there was someone to set America right if it over-acted; more and more

yeh jo hai zindagi khandan mr ya mrs talaash kirdar...just to name a few more. I don't think any of the present day serials have so much power in them, to vacate the streets when they are running.

And that yeh jo hai zindagi. Ultimate comedy from your own life. Characters seemed that next door neighbours.

Not to forget that public viewing of cricket matches with friends and screaming on top of voice. Really we miss that all old times. I would surely go back if I had the time machine.

Anyone remembers the serial called Street Hawk? The hero used to have one special motorcycle. It used to be played on Sundays.
Man this is killing. Good old times. Wish they come back once, just once.
"Hum Log" if aired on any of the popular channels will surely give a the producers of saas-bahu serials a run for for their money. Because such serials always remain fresh, errespective of their time. Hum log had its roots in the middle-class Indian family. i still remember waiting to watch it...
that was truly the best period of DD. the serials then had really great content and we use to eagerly wait for the programs. these days everything is done in excess, which is killing the entire fun...no quality, and a lot of run for TRPs.. acting wise also can't remember any actor of today's..

It was fun growing up. Doing the homework and watching chitrahaar,Saturday and Sunday movie,Election reviews(movies). You just made me remember my good old childhood days.
I do agree that those days TV serials were good and one used to wait for the serials. Main reason is that there were no 24 hours channels-especially new channels. Even though the TV was new, children were finding time to study. Now, after this globalization or whatever it is, every thing has changed. 24 hours news channels are havocs. No true, unbiased news from them. TV serials are good for nothing. No quality at all despite the improvement in technology. We have become 'global' by showing every man marrying three times and his wife marrying five times. One should garland 'Ekta Kapoor' for that. What a shame. Kaun banega... was a copy of s foreign serial. Then where is the originality? Be Indian and use the brain of others is the new motto. In this no siding of Congress or BJP. Both are of same quality.
