while i would like to congratulate Rahman for his 3 nominations, but compared to his standards, SDG music is just pretty ordinary. if Oscar feels he deserves a nomination for this, then Rahman should get an nomination for most of his compositions, its rather unfortunate that he has not been giving music for hollywood movies. hopefully, after this, he will get more offers from hollywood and so will other artistes from India
How people are going crazy for an award which is WHITE!! Its only wanted because its given by WHITE PEOPLE!!
People who look upto these awards suffer from an inferiority complex. Its as white people are more superior than their own people!!
Slumdog millionaire has put indias poverty on a global scale and is being applauded by white guys wearing suits. thats the truth of the matter. It does not matter if there is poverty in india or not, thats not the point. Point is indias poverty has been put on a global map for people to applaud!
I agree with Amitabh Bachchan 100%. Anyone that disagrees with this is just not pro-indian!

Rizwan, your premise of arguement is flawed. Oscar is an international award/American award. Like it or not, if ur work is international, its coz whites are appreciating. Second, people look in movies what is not seen naturally in their surrounding. Poverty is there in west, but they dont shit in open places, dont have cattle roaming the streets and begging is not an industry (largely). And which Indian movie depicts Indian life? Urban lifestyle apes western style which is nothing new for them. What is new is how struggler survives in this system? That makes a nice story. Like it or not, even you will like the story of an achiever. Problem with guys like you is that the movie was made by "gora" and appreciated by "goras". Same goes for Indian directors who tell a story based in poverty and is appreciated internationally. We like the sex, action and special effects in hollywood movies as we dont have it in our society. So grow up. Anyway, its a statue, so dont take it so seriously.

Okay! Then what does world include?... I am not interested in Arab or abc-stans. Africa doesn't involve itself in all these. Mangoloids (Rest of the Asians) are not open for South-Asian countries. Now the world that left for me to share anything is Europe and Americas. Why thats a problem for you?
I this hype and hoopla everyone seems to have forgotten about a short documentary film from India which has also being nominated to Oscar: Smiling Pinki. This small documentary also require your support and incouragement.

good @ least some1 thought about smiling pinki over here. Her father has saved some money to buy her good clothes. His only worry his taking her to LA,but a doctor n other people r helping him in this.GOD BLESS HER!
pride! Let's have Bhaskar awards which should be the best recognition for all the Indian regional moves. Remember Indian movie business and follower ship is so huge it can't be filled within Oscar categories. We can have best each language film awards, then best south, west, north, east, etc awards. That's true reflection of our cinema.

Movie making is a profession. how can you link it to desh bhakti? May only the best win. Next time you will say that since Olympics doesnot recognize Indian talents (Cricket, Kabaddi, Chess), we should not be PARTICIPATING IN IT.

that's pathetic as well as a racist comment. Do you mean to say we Indian deserve the award more than any one else.

hello! May be u should look the meaning of racist in the dictionary....How come supporting your own team (Here wishing to win for being 100% indian)in a competition becomes reacism? U Moron...

You bilittle someone just because he/she is from diffferent race is racism. I am as Indian as you. Cheering for others don't make you less Indian. When you watch a 'Titanic' or a 'Lagan', you don't say that it is a America or Indian. It is either a english or Hindi movie. And the reason why I took a strong objection to the blog was the way it begins "please don't support O...Saya, that song is mostly written by a Sri Lankan".
And you can go and check the meaning of racist as well as Moroon in Dictionary. Good Luck.

Well in English they write....'Who Wants to be a Millionaire..and that is translated in Hindi in most news articles as Kaun Banega Crorepati..I think it in English it should have Who would be a Millionare or the other aay round in Hindi it could have been Kaun Ban na chahega Crorepati
