sorry buddy aishwarya rai is now poor man idol where as freida pinto is hollywood heart throb.
Just few days back these child actors were in L.A in a posh hotel. They were garlanded and received at the airport with enthusiasm. I thought that they would be given keys to two newly decorated flats so that they would be taken directly from the airport to their new deserved flats. Instead while T.V channels in North America were talking about these actors receiving flats what we saw was them being taken in cars right back to the slums. What a shame. I read that the chief minister turned down the request to grant them the flats. Another report said that the producers and studio that distributed the movie have bought flats. Does anyone know what the truth is ? What else is sad is that the little boy actor was beaten by his father because he did not want to meet the reporters according to a U.S TV channel Inside Edition. Just imagine how tired these children were after the long flight. Why didn't the producers of the movie and the studio better coordinate their return ? They should have gone directly to the comfort of their newly decorated flats - bought by the studio and the producers. I hope that the producers and the studio will do something quick for the comfort of these two slum child actors unless something has already been done such as the purchase of two new flats and that these child actors get to the comfort of their new flats quickly. i dont understand for what these people should be given new flats. its only a film and just happened that they won an oscar. but there are many more deserving people who doesnt have home to live. what makes these people deserving for a flat is still not understandable. just because they acted the child hood part of the hero and heroine in the film doesnt make them great achievers. they acted as per the instructions given by the director and would have got payment also. but giving them flats and all these nonsense publicity does not make any sense.

Dear Nazir, Pelase understand the situation. Thease peoples are came from really 'SLUM's'. He doesn't know how 2 behave with real media. that is their 1st chance to face the media. Film is a Dramatically design motion so they can behave as per Director. but in real situation they have no Director for TV Channels. Please understand their situation.
Frieda Pinto is a Catholic Christian originally from Mangalore, settled in Mumbai. If she was a Hindu or muslim i don't think she would have got much welcome. look at Aish, no one cared her any time. but look at this natural simple looking Indian girl...Huge ...wohw !! anyway, She is Indian. this is what we think and wish her good luck ahead.

What you're saying is not true at all. Westerners really don't even realize all this divide that we Indians ourselves choose to talk about. For Westerners, Freida is just another brown-skinned exotic-looking girl. It would have been the same if she were a Hindu. And as for saying Aishwarya failed in Hollywood because she's a Hindu; Aishwarya carried herself very stupidly in the Western media. That's the reason she failed; not because she's a Hindu. She can only be a queen in India; because we Indians are so shallow that we'll take any 'beautiful', wooden girl with no acting talent for a star.
Why can't we just give Freida credit where it's due; maybe people just like her and she's just a cool person?? Why do we have to diss her just because she's made the spot so many in Bollywood would have craved to have?

I find it amazing..everyone is taliking about how insulting it is to the Indians..I find it little silly that we are all looking at the negative side of it. Every city in the world has an underbelley and India is not an exception. Can any one deny it. The movie never stated that an Indian is an slumdog. Anyone who has seen the movie will vouch that it is a story of rags to rich. Look at the brighter side Indian artistry has never been recognized in the world as much as this deed. I was on the net surfing to know what is the world response is and believe me there was not a single deragatory remark. They were all praises..non Indians were praising "Oh Saya" as if they have understood the song so much. They were all praise for the cute kids. I dint know why we are so sensitive about being called a poor country. It is a fact that a vast population of our country leaves in poverty acccept it and then watch the movie..
if she visited the embassy--does it deserve to be pegged as news? Best wishes for her woody allen movie(if it materialises)--she and woody will be the only ones watching it!watched her on jay leno recently--where did she pick up that accent from?
