RaviShankar, Anoushka, Zakhir Hussain, Hariprasad Chaurasia, and now A R Rahman have proved that Indian music is the best in the world... Resul Pookuty has also done wonders in sound...So indian sounds are best!!! Also, though Jai Ho is not Rahmans' best, please listen to his background & theme scores (Escape & Mausam) & you will realise why it got Oscar

titanic is the worst film.. lots of hype more than sdm. nothing great about the acting also. music was the negative. theme song of titanic will lose to sdm's any song.

Dude... when will you stop comparing? What will happen if all the oscar winning movies till now are nominated in one year.. then Titanic will not get even a single award...
If the Taj is portrayed in a photography exhibition it will not win an award. But a photo of a malnourished child being breast-fed by a starving poor woman, will win laurels. When life in a shanty or a slum is filmed with all the grandiosity of songs and dances, it will capture international recognition. Poverty and grotesqueness are favourite subjects for the so-called intellectuals to get awards and recognition. While people earn name and fame by using these subjects for their works of art, it does not rid people of their misery.
It aches one’s heart to see the children dance with joy looking at the Oscar ceremony and feel happy that a film shot in their slum gets an award. Alas! These kids cannot even dream of watching the film in a theatre. Our ministers, while congratulating the stars for their achievement should put their heads down with shame, that they have been doing very little to improve the lot of these slum dwellers.

Majjor share of the Credit of OSCAR award goes to many of our great Politicians, Ministers and Govt babus without whose dedicated efforts of selfishness,vested interests, disgusting corruption such conditions of SLUMs, beggers etc would not be possible. Only Such movies produced by a whiteman depicting indian slums, beggers and such other shameful conditions will qulify for oscars. But will movies made on very rich Indian cultures,traditions, histories win such awards? What way was the great film LAGAN inferior to Slum dog....? We have to get satisfied only by Discovery and Natgeo channels who show these rich cultures of India.
We have many serious issues to picturise (like terrorism, corruption, social evils). But when any producer/director thinks about making such movies, the censor board and politicians pitch in and stall the project. This is what ails our society today.

We should understand the Oscar is an award for English Films. That is the reason Lagan could not manage an award.
Try to make our film fare awards as famous as Oscar. Then nobody will bother about who gets Oscar..
