Slumdog has proved we have no dearth of talents and even slum kids can bring Oscars for us than the highly paid heroes like Rajinikanth, Amitabh, Akshay, Shah Rukh, Salman, Hrithik, Aishwarya Rai and others. Why pay these personalities so high when kids can out beat them in all departments. Irfan Khan, Anil Kapoor were brilliant in SM. We have so many such unsung heroes. Producers/Directors of India should unearth such talents and stop encouraging the Superstars till they attain the age of 60 plus, which is what happening at present. Let SM be an eye opener for unearthing new talents.

Let's say, your brother gets a national rank, will you say to others that he is your brother or call him an Indian? It's as simple as that. So, nothing wrong in taking pride as a Tamilian. Yeah, we are Indian tamilians. And we can be a Muslim Indian Tamilan or Hindu Indian Tamilan or maybe other, it doesn't matter.

Other than the parliament attack, do you remember if any other attack in any cities of India took place?
When AR Rehman/ Ilaiyaraja/ Srikanth does well, we are a proud Tamilian. When we see Sachin/Yuvraj/ Dhoni doing well, we are proud to be an Indian. When Obama/ Phelps does well, we are a proud human. When terrorists attack Mumbai, we mourn as an Indian. When Sri Lanka Tamilians are attacked, we mourn for innocent Tamilians. So what do you want to say? We cannot show any emotions? What we discuss here in forum does not really reflect our personalities. Just saying "I love India" doesn't mean that you are great. You got to do it in every day's actions. Don't try to divide the nation. If someone says, he is proud to be a Marathi or Kannadiga or Tamilian or something.... so be it. It doesn't mean he/ she doesn't love India.

I think Tamilians should first think that they are Indians and they should stop calling them Tamilians. Though I am from TamilNadu, I think that Rahman should have not said anything in Tamil, since Indian's national language is Hindi not Tamil. My kind advice to the Gov of TamilNadu is to include Hindi as one the languages in all Gov schools. As an Indian, I am really ashamed to say that I dont know Hindi because I was not taught Hindi in my school. When you see people from your place you can speak in your Mother tongue, but when you come out of your state or when u speaking in front of foreigners, I believe that we should talk in Hindi to show our unity as Indians.

U need be sorry dear. It shud not be a case of Hindi vs Tamil. U can know both the languages w/o any disadvantage to any one. On the other hand it is advantageous to every one.
RaviShankar, Anoushka, Zakhir Hussain, Hariprasad Chaurasia, and now A R Rahman have proved that Indian music is the best in the world... Resul Pookuty has also done wonders in sound...So indian sounds are best!!! Also, though Jai Ho is not Rahmans' best, please listen to his background & theme scores (Escape & Mausam) & you will realise why it got Oscar
clearly told that this is a British Movie that's why there was realism in the movie. He also commented that it would be missing if Bollywood produced that movie.

ya, we all know how OPEN minded north indians are, not recognizing Illayaraja for ages for him gems, but still gave all national recognition to the useless music directors from hollywood in the 90s. So that's why we south Indians are proud of AR Rahman.

Rajan you answer is simply great. Just because of my id name is Tamilan, most of these fellows are taking my comment as anti-indian comment. I have all the right to say, when India is doing something wrong. But these people are expecting, only we must praise India and should not ask for any correction, if so it is anti-indian. Undoubtedly, they are only anti-indians, not highlighting mistakes and asking them to correct.
My best wishes to Rahman on winning two oscars for his music compositons ... welcome back home. this should be a stepping stone for future hollywood based music projects. whole country is happy and proud.. Jai ho India.
