For rest of the world Rags to rich story may be amazing..But India there are so many of them.. Look at our politicians... Lalu, Mulayam, Mayawati to even a third grade pass Corporator in Mumbai..In India Politicians are the major reasons to worry.
If someone says "Look you Indians sending rockets to the moon and there are still people who are dying of hunger". Should our answer be "How dare you"? Should we not acknowledge that yes poverty, hunger, diseases do exist in our society? If we forget the poor people, should we still be called a great nation? Politicians do not like poverty being shown in the movies, because they want a "India Shinning" image. This "India Shinning" image may be partly true, but for millions, it is only illusion. Should we so hypocrytical that we will even refuse to recognise that? Has Danny Boyle broken any law? There are lot of negative things in England/USA, why can't our directors/producers show that in their movies? If they can make good stuff people we see them.

Those who advocate slum dog film depicting the reality should think that, if having poverty is sad why rejoice on getting award for depicting it? Will anybody rejoice if his fathers tragic death is reported with photos in the news paper? All are aware of poverty.Slum dog film is not some revelatory thing on which we dance with joy. This film should be taken as rude reminder of our backwardness and the European mindset of making mockery at our poverty. Instead of Oscar this poverty ridden country needs your financial and technical support. Instead Europeans are playing diplomacy by selling arms to both India and Pakistan. South Asia is a huge Arms market for the Europeans. They spread venom here and sell there arms and make mokery of us by making films like slum dog with the support of a few ignorant indians. Shame on us for keeping blind to this disgrace and pretending diplomacy
The script of the movie is least impressive to me . But as they have publicized its a movie about the dreams and aspirations of ppl to rise above poverty is not at all acceptable . til the climax scene the hero is thinking only bout his childhood sweetheart and nuthin else not even the million bucks !!They resort to all types of illegal stuff in their younger days (he and his bro ) they never had any dream and aspirations as such . they did it just for living . thats it. and the 'main lead' doesnt suit the script . he loooks too educated n civilised .. and the actress looks as if she has been born n brought up in a aristocrat's family and she has left her rich dad to be wid our so called poor hero ! choice of actors is poor.. except the hero's bro . he has done justice to his role ! he shows the true nature of an impoverished slum brought up kid !
