i dont think a.r.rehman has given an extrordinary music to this movie.if he had given the same music to some indian movies, it wouldnt have made any impact.its all because of an ghora director and theme of indian poverty.i havnt seen the movie so far. thinking of seeing it after it wins oscar.

There have been several movies by Indian Directors highlighting the slums, poverty etc. Even several of Big B movies are featuring slums, poverty etc. So why get upset when someone else does the same?.
I think Bollywood is jealous bcos none of the "TOP' stars, "elite' group was involved. More importantly the 'D' company did not finance it.
Now that the movie has become a hit, there are attempts to play it down.
Its a well directed movie albeit the script errors. Atleast you won't regret watching it.
Finally, it is based on a book written by an Indian.

All the things pertaining to this movie is ok. But i could not understand the rationale in including the term 'slum dog...' in the title. In my opinion, eventhough the film is good and the music director has done a good job, the title should have been changed. Being a foreign director, he should have carefully chosen the title. To my surprise, we, Indians, are silent on the title of the film. The term 'slum dog' used in the title is somewhat disturbing and it should have been changed. In my opinion, the Indian film unit members of the film would have suggested to change the name of the film. But what they will do, if good amount is shown before them..?
The West likes to see poverty, mafia, lawlessness and Taj Mahal to identify India. It also wants to hear that its the call centre and outsourcing which has transformed India. They got all that in Slumdog. In totality of course the film is wonderful. But one cant help feel under-showcased. Why wouldnt Danny Boyle make a slumdog millionaire in UK or US. Oh! But he would have to show the western slums to the world. They cant have that. So fly down the continent and show all that in India. And WE lap it up!

And since when did "Kaun banega... " or "Who wants to be a millionaire" started telecasting LIVE. They only telecast recorded shows!

why is the or villian salim offering namz and not the hero, is there any angle we could not grasp?
I am surprised at people's judgment of a bilingual movie. A torrent of expletives was in hindi. And all the dialogues following are in english. Was there a single instance when the protagonist spoke hindi after he grew up? I still have not understood the reason behind making the movie a bilingual one.
we were ruled by foreigners and are being ruled by their standards.i can't understand why thr is so much of noise when an oscar nomination occures??chinese never acknowledge american standards.our movies and western movies are completly diff.in western world india is alwz knwn as for it's poverty n corruption.they never highlight the scientists at NASA,indian IT power etc.i still remember wen sushmita sen became miss universe in best 20 event her back ground screen was showing the deserts, snakes, cows on road kinda picture.this the way they recognise us.hence lets dnt react much to their choice. jai hind.

You are absolutely right. Call it the after effects of colonialiasm, but I really wish they would leave us alone and vice-versa. It seems that the white man has decided to showcase our underbelly, now that their world is collapsing.

I am proud of being an Indian . These foreigners can never make a movie like Rab ne , Baghban, Hum Aapke hain Kaun. that touches human emotions so well. We have our own standards and values that cant be even touched by them . Movie that we discard is loved by them and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna is the best example.
