You lowlife.. wat Raoul meant was that India has great talent ! n wats not Indian in the movie? All the actors are Indian, most technicins are Indian.. the story is Indian.. the environment is Indian.. it captures an Indian spirit which I'm certain you would not know about.. funny people around these days !
I have no objection projecting India as one among the nations with astute poverty, as it is no far from reality, but why should even the poor be referred to as DOGs? It really hurts..The British Director, if I guessed it right, should bear in mind that India was the richest nation before thieves called 'East India Company entered our nation and plundered all our wealth...Is that not a shame for Britishers...and they still are thieves as they have kept with them our Peakcock throne with...Anyway DOGs are better than THIEVES.

I am amazed that people are having objection with the name... The meaning of slumdog actually should be perceived with a different content... It is more like an Underdog which means a person who is destined or has no chances of winning.. I am sure no one would have problem if it was named Underdog Millionaire because most of the times in past our cricket teams have been referred as underdogs...
Besides that those people who think there is no proverty or slums then i guess we need to take a close look....No one has problems with the movie Traffic Signal...
Infact i guess we should learn from this movie and try to improve the city... I am sure if this movie had Amir Khan, Amitab Bacchan or anyone in lead or negative role we would be praising this movie but its a different story... I loved the movie a total entertainer and fun to watch... Just go and watch the movie in positive frame of mind... If you go to thinking that you would bash the movie after watching you gonna do that.. think positive and neutral and i am sure you gonna enjoy every bit of it..

Well said Kedar, the movie is a great movie. People stop being so senstive about its portrayal of Indian poverty. Poverty is fact of life, which most Indians like to pretend does not exist. If people are so concerned about the movie why dont they go do some charity work. All the actors speaking out against the movie - when was the last time you did some real charity work? Announcing the opening of a school does not count. Spend your money and make it happen

Dude you need to understand the concept.I understand the meaning of slumdog. I saw the movie. But its did u see the aspect of the film. They just wanted to show the poverty and people who plunder other, fool other. These all non-sence.Fine things like to happen in India!!!! Put to an Extent. This Story is taken from book "Q&A". if this movie had been mad by any India Director like Mani ratnam the backgroud could have been littel different. We got slums and poverty in mumbai. But on the other hand we also have place to be proud of. Showing things that make us ashamed of our country wont do in india. This movies are being showed in UK.We got lot of uploads.but only from Whites. most of indian came out feeling emmbarased. one of them was Priyadarshan. Our own Indian Director.Who came all guns blasing when he saw this movie in torronto flim festival. Think about it when it comes to Dignity. We happy with what we have and what we got.But we cant tolerate a White making fun of us.

@MS It is shameful that you are alive when the farmers are commiting suicide in vidarbha. Y dont u join them?
The Director should do something to rehabilitate the boys of the sum as promises. However the money should not go to wrong hands. It should go to a good NGO who have the experience of taking up such a project. y recommendation will be that the Director should discuss with BHARATIYA VIDYA BHAVA the best NGO of our Country.I can be of some help as I am a life member and the Co-founder late Ramakrishnan was known to me.
What is in this movie that all of us havent seen in Hindi cinema since 1947? Same old story, but with a backdrop of Kaun Banega Crorepati. Its much like movies made with cricket in the background. But instead of cricket they put in KBC which can be recognised by the Westeners as something they know about (Who wants to be a millionaire?) Its more like Mira Nair meets Ram Gopal Varma kind of movie.
We have seen this in countless movies:both in hollywood and Indian cinema. WHy is it that most movies have to have a happily-ever-after story? Arent break ups a part of life too? In fact breakups are far more common than happy mushy endings. Titanic movie thankfully ended with the male lead losing his life and the heroine moving on with life. Slumdog ending was horribly tacky, and they shud have done away with the girl by the first half. It should have been given a gritty ending to make it feel more poignant
