Few questions
by sanjeev kumar on Jan 03, 2010 12:14 AM  | Hide replies

Hi All,
Recently I watched Aamir speaking (as a third party) about
whether the film 3i is copied from the book five point someone by
chetan bhagat.
I have also watched few Chetan's interviews these days. Few
things i couldn't understand from Aamir's Kolkata press
conference. I am listing down my doubts and seeking
clarification
(or discussion) from you guys:
1. Do people are really that dumb to take 3.2 years to write a
script which is 60-70% copied from the novel.
2. Aamir said he didn't read the book (he never dare to read it,
though is good reader) and also said chetan is trying to get
some
publicity. My doubt here is how can he be that stupid to say
Chetan is trying to get publicity when he hasn't read the book
and don't know the truth (which Chetan is claiming) whether
movie
is really 60-70% copied from the novel.
3. I saw the movie. In the movie, Aamir's character "Rancho" made
a bad comment on guys who do MBA after engineering. My doubt here
is, can't people realize during engineering that they really have
interest in managemenet/finance and they wanna do MBA.
I think, this new thing must have been added by the movie's
writer. Chetan is good example of that and he has proven that
even after engineering and MBA people can be great writers like
him.
4. The producer of the movie was shouting on the press people and
asking them whether they have seen the movie or not. He didn't
dare to ask the same question to Aamir who is totally unaware of
what's there in the book

1.The script is not 60-70% of the Novel. The plot is 60-70%.
2. Your 2nd comment is correct.
3.I am not judging your ability to asess a writer. However all the work of Chetan Bhagat is interesting but not great by long distance.

4. Actor does not required to read the book. Reading script is more important than novel.

For the 4th point, I think if actors are not required to read the books then they better not comment on things which they are unaware of.

Sridevi and A Bachan

toured the west several times for 'shows' that the Indian media reported were 'thundering successes'. There were drooling accounts in various publications about how packed the stadiums were with 'Americans' for each of their 'shows'. The reports were extensive and ran for several days.

Yet, there was not a word about the actual composition of these 'American' crowds. Only when a couple of them published photographs that showed the crowds from a distance (till then all photos had featured only the 'celebrities') that it suddenly dawned that there were only brown Americans and hardly any white ones in the crowds !!!

Similarly, in the reports about the 'box office record performaces' of Hindi movies in the US, the Indian media never ever mentions that it is solely the NRI community (and to a certain extent the Pakistani community resident in the US) that yields the record performances. The poor average Hindi movie buff back in India who reads such reports (especially in Hindi papers) swells with pride in the firm belief that the entire world has taken note of his idols and their products !!

Don't try to be so smart . The indian viewers are educated enough to understand the actual scenario . And for your kind information most people (except a few like u ) don't bother whether American are interested in our film or not . So better stop ur bullshit ..

true. but it surely dint require al lthe producer/ actor/ director ganging up at a press conference. aamir did that during TZP, and now he's doing it to bhagat. we dont need such fake humility and attitude that he's the soul of all things to do with his movies - there wouldnt be a 3 idiots without bhagat in the first palce.

Also, the debate is worthwhile, as someone mentioned here. there's need for introspection by us the public whether there's honesty, and respect by bollywood fraternity.

no, they grated their ass to get there too .don't forget, it took a lot of thinking, hard work at getting it right. you can see a dime a dozen ads on tv - all well produced, but just doesnt click, even with a super hero like srk in it. why ?
