Must watch but only in 3D...if possible in IMAX (Hyderabad)
by Rajesh Sinha on Dec 18, 2009 03:15 PM  | Hide replies

It’s a really superb movie with superb scenes...superb action...thrills... everything in this movie was well calculated…
But u r going to miss all these things if u r not gong to see this in 3D. Go for 3D and enjoy the show. If possible go to Imax-Big screen Hyderabad (World’s biggest 3D screen). But the bad part of this is if u haven’t go any 3D movie till now then you may take some time to settle down into this, after this its all fun. 

The world's largest cinema screen and IMAX screen is in the LG IMAX theatre in Darling Harbour, Sydney. It is 29.42m (approximately 8 stories) high by 35.73m wide — covering an area of more than 1,015 square metres

Yes, IMAX Hyd has the world's biggest screen. It is a fact and the Hyderabadis are lucky for this. Especially for the fact that it is priced at only Rs.200

which Avtaar is better - Kaka's or Cameron's?
by Oomshik Tooshik on Dec 18, 2009 02:54 PM  | Hide replies

I liked Avtaar (1983) in 3D. Cameron has slightly changed the story for 2009.

Anyone?

Funny isnt it - Bollywood 1st stole (inspired they say to neutralise the gory act ) ‘Bollywood’ from Hollywood. Soon our films started having English titles - 'An Evening In Paris', 'Night in London' 'Love in Tokyo' 'Wanted' 3 Idiots' - the list goes on...

Now Hollywood has hit us right back by stealing our desi title 'Avataar' - from the 1983 Rajesh Khanna classic. This is not to deride James Cameron, who Iam sure has given us die hard cine buffs a Classic beyond compare after the staggering 'Titanic' - I just wanna see 'Aataar' ASAP !

HI All,

IMHO, if you have watched 3D earlier, or a movie buff going regularly, or a person who wants solid script, then please please dont go to this movie.
IF you are 3D first timer, then probably you can go for it.

This movie is a bit time disappointment from director you has done Titanic and Terminator2. I personally was bored after 20 minutes. Only first 20 mins and last 30 mins are interesting, meanwhile you can sleep, there is nothing exicting about the story, Its the same old story, Good over evil stuff without much of script difference...

An out of the world cinematic experience
by Its Magic on Dec 18, 2009 02:26 PM

This is a movie of life time. No critics in the world can explain what AVATAR is. You have to feel it. Go feel the out of the world cinematic experience. You will be in a different world and you will wish not to return back.

good take on the Rajesh Khanna original
by Oomshik Tooshik on Dec 18, 2009 02:03 PM  | Hide replies

James Cameron picks up from Rajesh Khanna - how about that?
The original Avtaar (1983) was a classic that starred Kaka, Shabana Azmi and AK Hangal as the alien who's always been old. As you can see, James Cameron has slightly altered the screenplay for a worldwide audience. He doffs his hat to the first film in style.

I thought it was well adapted - Hangal and Golshen Grover are the only actors from the original in the 2009 version. Watch for them as Na'vi elders.

see original too in new 3d print.

Also first time Hollywood remade a Bollywood movie. More India influence - the Naavi ppl are like Bhagwan Ramchandra-ji, blue with bow and arrows.
