to be specific - Katha parayumbol, barber's role acted by Sreenivasan (screenplay too of sreenivasan's) - the other hero was Mammootty
Don't compare south vs north. In india take any region in a year they would produce more than 11 films out of which only 6/7 are so called box offfice hits. All the other films are bull sh..t movies.
This is applicable for hindi,tamil,malaylam movies
Nowadays we see that lot of technology used in our film making and we spend crores in hiring sophisticated camera's and hollywood crew.
Even a b or c grade movie is shooted using digital camera's and they go overseas for dream songs.
One thing we need in our industry is songs to be separated from actual film. We can have 5/6 songs in a movie they can be released as separate audio and video dvd and in the movide we just concentrate on the story.
I have seen many commerical movies where a hero will be chased by group of villians and he and the heroin will be hiding and there will be dream song where they dance in italy.
I know cinema is not real life but the above said one is too much for me. If you want to get profit thru songs market is separately not with the movie.

u don't know anything about South Indian films especially the Malayalam movies. Why r u giving wrong information ? The fact is that Billu is not the copy of Tamil film Kuselan. But Billu and Kuselan are remakes of Malayalam movie 'Kadha Parayumbol'. Similarly Bhool bhulaiya and Chandramukhi are remakes of Malayalam super hit movie 'Manichithrathaazhu'.

Doesn't the South still rock...? Malayalam the last that I checked is still predominantly spoken in the South (ahem, unless you considered the Gulf to be the North)...
Anyways, on a serious note, the entire Indian film industry is laden with people full of sh.., with an identity crisis. That's why we keep fighting with each other, cos we make sh.. movies (except for ones like 'A Wednesday').

Kamal and mohanlal are extremely top notch actors...neither naseer nor anupam have won as many National awards as these two.
If Kamal contains his urge to experiment too much, it will come out good.
Hey Venky is also a very talented actor,who always keeps low profile though he is a big star.He has many nice performances to his credit.No need to seem him not on par with kamal and mohanlal.He is just lot younger than them both.thats it.

agreed venky is a very gud actor.. hez the one, who has got the higher success rate among the top 4 (chiru, venky, nag, balakrishna) just that he maintains a low profile..the most under rated actor in tollywood.
