Then why don't you ask MBA people to make movie, act in it or whatever.
But will that Mannubhai, MBA(IIM) can make audience to come and pay to watch that is another quotient in this whole equation.

For those who keep saying these things about actors and cricketers, how many cricketers and actors earn this kind of money. Top 11 MBAs in India (with that I mean top 11 Masters of Business Administration and not just degree holders) earn much much more than what actors and cricketers earn. You get paid not just by your skills, but by demand of your skills. A truck driver in USA earns more than an average software engineer, because of lesser availability of people ready to do that job compared to those willing to write code.

Dirty multiplex owners
by Sane Guru on Apr 03, 2009 05:59 PM  | Hide replies

Its the greedy multiplex owners. Per seat operating cost in a multiplex is only Rs 13. Its obvious that its their greed which is driving their decisions. Producers are right. They take all the risk.

In fact I aint spending 250 bucks on a ticket anymore. If the prices of multiplex seats dont come below Rs. 100 level, I am happy with pirated DVDs. And anyone having a problem with pirated DVDs- if you dont want people to buy them, stop the sale.

I wish there was a cartel of movie going public. Then we could have arm twisted multiplex owners to reduce ticket rates to below Rs. 100.

What risk do multiplex owners take? Just one week of revenue.
Whereas producers do all the hard work, producers and financiers risk crores of capital. Movies flops entire production house goes bust. For Multiplex there is always another friday, another movie.
This reflects the state of affair of entire country.
A farmer works hard, there is always crop failure, monsoon risk but who makes money? The middleman. He does not get produce in this state he fleeces another farmer in another village. Does he toils hard? No.
Then there are various govt. babus and their leaders who do not risk anything but want a bigger portion of your pie.
Govt. gives subsidy to steel industries but the middle man makes money and does not pass the benefit of subsidy to retail.
Even late Rajiv Gandhi mentioned that we are a country of middle man. Where a producer endures all the risk and hard work, consumer pays for it and the middle man always gets the money.

Multiplexes r right
by Sunitha DA on Apr 03, 2009 05:26 PM

Producers make money before the release of the movie, (NRI release and as well as domestic), they sell music rights at big prices, they sell Television rights after sometime of release at big cost irrespective of the movie being a big hit or avg or flop. (cos it will be tagged as latest release). and many more like this..
Producers should agree to 50:50 only when the film is hit. If its a flop then they have no right to demand anything from the Multiplexes.
Commenting about Parking money, Cafeteria etc etc is not their job. Producers loose more money if they dont comedown to the multiplexes demands.

Producers should use Dish and cable TV as channel
by rajiv mehta on Apr 03, 2009 04:39 PM  | Hide replies

Producer can sell their movies directly to Dish and cable tv owners. Even a mere 200 Rs per house could fetch them several crores. This will reduce piracy considerably
