Yeah right. SRK did try to do an Ashoka that flopped horribly. He is good at those lover boy roles, not much depth beyond that. He was good for a brief period with those comedies with Juhi Chawla etc, but of late it's only more superficial stuff with his favorites like Karan Joker, Farah Khan etc. You need more versatility to be able to do any role. SRK clearly is not in that category.
guess it's a remake of My Fair Lady; or else they would not be scouting around so hard for the perfect leading lady. Bindiya Goswami's role could be played by anybody, so why is there so much hype about Anushka Sharma?

My Fair Lady was remade by Dev Anand as the film Manpasand. It has Tina Munim (Ambani) then in the leading role.

In that case, the appropriate movie to compare it would be with Dev Anand's Manpasand. that was also a remake of My Fair Lady with Tina Munim (now Ambani) in the role that Audrey Hepburn enacted.
The only reversal here is Girl likes the 40 year old professor and Father wants the young buy so that's where it ends and balance will be yashraj punju antics and they will kill this classic golmaal which every indian loved and yashraj makes movies for punjabis and NRI's .Hope they remember there are others in India too.So Aditya Chopra your secret is out , Give me the prize money .

You forgot the other people in the supporting cast- Dina Pathak, Shubha Khote, David and the guys playing Palekar's friends. They were all really wonderful actors. Deven Varma also had an interesting guest appearance there.
