The author has not done her homework well. She missed Farooq's calss act in the play Tumhari Amrita and Aapki Sonia with Shabana Aazmi and Sonali Bendre, respectively.
Farooq Sheikh is one of those actors who is never over-bearing for the role he is playing...just apt for the role, not one shade more or less...though I wonder this new movie wud do justice to his talent...
A well written article for an extremely talented actor.I think the "underplay" shown by Farooque in various movies like Shatranj ke Khiladi, Garam Hawa, etc, ought to be a lesson for the present day over-the-top Khan gang. Although the one genre where Farooque could have been exploited more was comedy. I think "Katha" was his best performance till date. Neways looking forward to seeing "Saas Bahu and Sensex" for more of this fantastic actor.
The whole article seems to be written from a fan's perspective. Just because mam likes FS, she goes ga-ga incessantly.. Raghbir Yadav or Rajpal Yadav or even an Annu Kapoor are any day more talented than FS. FS had/has very limited range and he can pull of only certain kind of roles.
The point I am trying to draw attention to is that the whole reviewer business is a truck load of bs...if you are a fan of a actor/star then you can write reams and reams about his talent or if you are monetarily compensated...then also you can write reams and reams of praise..either way..it sucks and very badly...

In any case Annu Kapoor hams and has practically nothing to show in terms body of work. Rajpal Yadav is good but limited only to comedy genre.

You've got to be kidding. Rajpal yadav and Annu kapoor are nowhere in the league of FS. He is a class apart. You need to look at the range of films and the caliber of his acting before comparing him to two relatively amateur actors. Farooque Sheikh had class, he has never do cheap comedies or flashy roles unlike many current actors and so called comedians.

yaar totoman, farukh sheikh is a class apart, this rajpal yadav & annu kapoor cannot match him in any way... rajpal yadav is just a kid in front of them doing cheap comedies... raghubir yadav is also a class actor and u r pairing him with rajpal & annu kapoor what a pity...

yeah, i heard satyajit ray could not afford Rajpal Yadav and Annu Kapoor...so he went for Sheikh ;)

That is incorrect. Rajpal Yadav would be in his diapers when Farooque Sheikh was at his peak. And Annu Kapoor was a nobody back then.

Every Actor has his own strongs and weekness. While I agree Raghbir Yadav and Rajpal yadav are very good actors but they too have limited range and teh reason for that probably is that they did not get enough chances to expand their range. But Annu Kapur?? Give me a break, he is an ordinary actor, can't compare him with others. I like this guy FS, for his acting, for his public persona, for his maturity, for his sophistication and for his ability to carry a show alone..remember Jeena Isi ka naam hai?? It was never same after he went off.
