A very matured advice.
by BishwaNath Singh on Oct 20, 2008 03:16 PM  | Hide replies

Bal Thakre,Shiv Sena Chief of Mumbai has rightly praised Salim Khan, a great author & yesteryear actor & script writer of Hindi Movies who is father of our bollywood famous actor Salman Khan. Both of them have great passion for our Hindu rituals & traditions though they are muslims. It is good that both of them possess secular views. A very pertinent question has been raised by the chairman of Shiva Sena, Bal Thakre as why the Union Govt. should not ban Samajvadi Party who are alleged to have been encouraging militants and people of dubious character who have harmed integrity of our nation and other issues of national importance instead of threatening by congress to ban Bajarang Dal- a Hindu organization who is grossly engaged in doing good job for our country. It requires deep thinking, a good debate and very befitting reply by our able Prime Minister after deep thinking. Is it not that just to woo their vote banks, the political parties are raising such issues having no relevance? Such gimmick should be avoided in the best interest of our nation that harms our basic structure. Let us remind to all our politicians not to play game of dirty politics that harm very basic character of ours just to woo their vote banks!

WHAT IS SAID IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN WHO IS SAYING IT.
by kedem kemorah on Oct 20, 2008 03:04 PM  | Hide replies

What many are saying about the Thackerays may be true but WHAT is being said is more important than WHO is saying it. This is the problem with us as we lay more emphasis on WHO is saying something than WHAT is being said. If the Devil quotes the scriptures the scriptures do not get defiled. We need to recall that Salman's mother is a Hindu and unlike pseudo-Secular characters like Teesta Setalvad who has also married a Muslim is not anti-Hindu. What is important is that what Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray has said about Salim & Salman is correct and needs to be emulated by all genuine Indian Muslims, like Muslims of Indonesia which is the world's biggest Muslim country that believes & practices the fact that their religion is Islam but culturally they are Hindus. All Rs. 20,000 notes in Indonesian currency has a picture of Lord Ganesha printed on it whereas their national airline is called Garuda Airlines, Garuda the bird being the vehicle of Lord Vishnu. You will also see statues of Lord Ganesha being venerated in some shops owned by Muslims Malaysia. There is no religion in the world that does not practice idol worship but it is only Hinduism that allows it while others say it is taboo. Yet all Muslims venerate the Kaaba, the Koran and some even the graves of dead Muslim saints. Christians venerate the crucifix, the statues of Mary,Christ and even the Holy Bible in no way less than the Hindus worship Lord Ganesha or goddess Lakshmi or any other god. There is nothing wrong.

GOOD NEWS
by Rahul Patil on Oct 20, 2008 03:01 PM  | Hide replies

I think Bal Thackeray has been rational and in contuing with the Maratha tradition of working closely with Muslims.

Few people are aware that, The Great Maratha Warrior Shivaji has 40% of his army as muslims. Also, he closet bodygurads were muslims. The closeness between Maratha's and Muslims is very much evident in entire western Maharashtra.

My childhood has gone amogest muslims and perhaps pampered the most in my muslim freinds family. Sad to see the conflict and mistrust which has arisen.

The real basis for the entire communal conflict has been the Ram Mandir/Babri MAsjid issue. The religious conflict started with that.

Fundamentalism has been on muslim and hindu sides. Its important that majority follow the middle path. Still, I think the secular bond of this country is very strong and will weather this storm.

Mr. Patil, as u said that the problem started from when the babri masjid issue, is completely wrong and this is the propoganda started by seudosecularists. The real problem started when allaudin khilji and other came and looted our mandirs, ijjat of our womans. If u study the history in details u will get perfect data. And Shivajis military was not having 40% muslims. Those were only 2 to 3%.We got the Hindavi Swarajya on our own strength. thank U.

IT was Hindu Swarajya, but it was not religious, it was a rational and just way of living ones life. There was nothing religious to it. Also, Shivaji didnt took inspiration from So called LORD RAM or any other demi-GOD of north India.

Also, regarding data of constitution of Shivaji's army, dont spread false propaganda, my figures are 100% correct.

In mohas period nearly 3500 temples are destroyed and some of them converted to mask.

After the independece, Hindus asked only 3 temple return back, which are important temples to Hindus (Kasi, Ayodhya & Madhura).

Muslims should be returned the same to Hindus with thanks. But, even Hindus cannot get the same until now.

All the reasons are not muslims, only these pseduo secularist politicians.

If I am called "pseduo secularist", its fine with me, nothing shamefull in it.
For me future matters more than past. I think Sameer Subhash has made a good observation.
Its laughale, some people who dont meaning of word Hindu, talk of religion, talk of fighting for temples.

There is no other option but adobtability and flexibility. Everyone has to adjust.

I again re-iterate, Bal Thackeray has said something very true and right.

Fundamental hindu's and muslims are hurt by it, but anyway who cares for such individuals.

liking salman -good the reason not good
by Guest on Oct 20, 2008 03:00 PM  | Hide replies

Its good leaders of bal thackeray like salman, we all do but to say he likes him coz he gets ganesh idol home is not right.
Which in turn means bala sahib will like only people if they perform hindu rights is that fair guys...So in this countrie muslims will have to perform pooja and hindus must say naamaz to like each other.

Why cant we be Proud Hindus,Muslims,Christians & Sikhs and also be patriotic. The leaders will never let it happen coz of vote banks.Leaders should develop trust and love between Indians and not hate and difference between communities.

We Indians are to be blamed to be influenced by such leaders and there is no dearth of them in all communities.

remember basic culture of india is hinduism, its a bitter truth that all muslims are either converted or are foreigners.

so my friend its better as early as possible that they come back to their owm stream other wise the problems will continue as it is.

Praise for Salman Khan
by Aditya Venkat on Oct 20, 2008 02:56 PM

I dont know if he will retain his views once he starts watching Salman Khan's films. He will have to decide what is a bigger irritation, Salman Khan's acting prowess (or lack of it?) or his bigoted version of Hindutva for the marathi masses.
