Great Watch
by Ahmed Ali on Nov 21, 2008 08:42 PM

Hi....just finished watching this movie. I think it deserves better than the 2.5 stars given by Rediff reviewer. Its a great watch, and movies like this using different themes should be encouraged. Are we still not bored with the DDLJ, kuch kuch hota hai etc etc era?

Such movies define cinema and are the way forward. I am sure it would find place in International Film Festivals and would win quite a few awards. Vinay Phatak is at his best after the much acclaimed "Bheja Fry". This movie would have done had well had it been properly promoted and marketed, but I can understand that budget may have been a constraint.

Nevertheless, I believe it would get good publicity by Word of Mouth. Its more than worth a "Dekho".

Hema Choudhry
Wierd Review!
by Hema Choudhry on Nov 20, 2008 04:28 PM

This film has touched everyone who has seen it in ways that are unbelievable. I think, The performances, the poignant moments, the lighter moments... all are being lapped up by the audiences like the director would have wanted.
Unfortunately the film is not showing as many shows as it essentially should have. Nonetheless, it does its job.
Mr.D'Silva, I don't know where he has gotten his education on what good cinema is, or what a good actor is. The review is as ridiculous as his name.
I could counter the review at each point, but i won't. It is a very special film. Watch it and judge it. It is One of the best I have seen in ages.
I am sick and tired of people comparing this film to the Bucket List. The stories are different, only the concept of a list is similar. There are so many films in the world that have similar concepts.. boy meets girl, they hate each other and then fall in love. This story has been repeated a million times, and it probably will be repeated another million times... but the situation, the characters, the background vary in every film. Similarly to have two stories based around the same premise is really not that uncommon. And the Bucket List was a very average film, by the way. Only the actors were worth the watch.
These people always who put big banners down because of the larger than life cinematic liberties and small films cuz they believe is not great cinema.... what is good cinema according to you??
Please people Watch it!! It's a lovely film.

Why we compare ?
by N Mehra on Nov 18, 2008 04:41 PM

Review of the movie is okayish, box-office verdict is flop. But, will watch it this weekend for timepass. I saw a similar kind of movie in Air France in 2006 i.e. Last Holiday starring Queen Latifah. And Rediff says its a copy of another Hollywood movie 'The Bucket List' & a TV Serial 'My name is Earl'. So, it seems in Hollywood as well there are remakes (which probably doesnt reach India) & that too in huge nos. Sometimes, I wonder why these reviewers keep comparing each & every movie with some other movies which they think were fantastic, can't they just watch the film & rate them on entertainment levels. People watch movies for entertainment & not for improving their GK !! And not every movie can be a art movie.
