saw QOS this afternoon n it was a real heartbreak, just read the review n for once i agree wid raja sen..dunno why ppl against him for this disasterous movie too...i guess its just a way to vent out the modern day frustration....not much to talk abt the movie, but must say this review is brilliant..took me 3 reads to understand, but its worth when compared to the mediocre stuff we see around...atleast we have one critic in india whos not tamed by big films n produtions n speaks wht he feels...cheers!

maybe u were influenced by raja sen to a biased mindset.i agree dat it was not the usual bond movie but maybe the high hopes dat all of us had(all those quips bout extensive shooting and craig's arm sling)made u think so.

well it depends on what u want from a film basically.u like bond the way he is.but they wanted to get more creative,do away with the gadgets and over the board plots.they also did away with the stiff british upper lip.its like an eye for an eye.maybe thats what the world is coming to.these things tend to influence a movie.jus like the cold war did to previous bond movies and north korea in die another day.its all bout politics, maybe its propaganda, maybe its a creative urge, but bond has changed for the worse 2 u to the better 4 me.

i like bond that is an action hero but who has a sardonic wit as well. actually find roger moore and pierce brosnon ULTRA-smooth -- all style, no substance. Sean connery was good tho. I do like craig, but feel there needs to be a better-told story.

also depends on what expectations you have when you are watching a movie. I read a 4* review on times and went expecting a repeat of casino royale magic and was disappointed. Maybe if I had watched the movie after reading raja sen's review, and went with REALLY low expectations, i might have enjoyed it much more !!!

Well, Daniel Craig was good in Casino Royale. Here I think the script let him down. So will have to wait and see if next Bond movie is able to get the action-charm combo right.

action's MUCH better in the Bourne movies. And Dark Knight's good as a combination of action and glum hero.

yeah but dont 4get it was heath ledger who actually made it magical.its a one off film which turns out to be real good.i doubt whether the nextBatman movie will be as good, though i wud love that.

true. in dark knight it was the entire package that worked, not only heath ledger - good action scenes as well.
Raja Sen write reviews in simple english so tat ur target audience,i.e, Indian viewers can easily understand your point... don't try to flaunt ur vocabulary here...

yeah,i dont have anything against a gud language.but the thing is that he can leave this wodehouse and wicked tv commentator infused into 1 style and maybe do sumthin diff.well it depends on him.but that guy is intelligent maybe that got into his head.

good command over english but over-indulgent. likhta hi chala jaata hai....sometimes on a tangent!
I have been a avid fan of Bond movies. The action of the movies never impressed me.For the action and the adrenaline rush I could always go to a Stallone or in the present times Lara Croft movie. It was the stiff upper lip, wry and sarcastic humour and the presence of mind that hooked me.Remember that killing of the snake with after shave in Live and Let Die.Daniel Craig's bond avatar just keeps on running.Watching him just reminds me of some atheletics competition. Its the 100mtr sprint over and over again.Where is the suaveness, the twinkling in the eye and that effort to maintain the decorum.Pierce Brosnan straigtening that tie while driving the tank in Moscow and spreading havoc. This Bond looks more out of Russia than Britain. If you argue with me I'll blow your apartment building without warning.Daniel Craig's intensity was befitting his role in Munich. He looked good with Eric Bana showing the crises that the Israelis underwent. The role of Bond does not require intensity. It requires good humour and that boyish charm that Sean Connery, Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan brought. They were never sullen and the license ti kill was secondary. Boys were boys what with girls and gadgets.Like you never live twice, you never sleep twice(with the same girl). That was Bond. There were no hard feelings and very little heartache. You moved on with good humour and lived your dreams. With this James Bond you have started visiting your horrors.Maybe James Bond has also become depressive with time.

yeah maybe ur rite to an extent.but change is welcome sometimes.its not like bond is gonna sulk 4 eternity.he's gonne philander soon.but i think they wanted to bring some variety to the series.but they could have done with a little more of screenplay and an independent story rather than a continuation of casino royale.the variety here is I think -bond finally fell 4 a grl.
Re: Where is James Bond?

the variety worked in casino royale. big time. i think an action bond is good, but it must be a combination of action and charm/wit.
QOS is OK. But not as good as CASINO Royale..all the action sequences are very well made but it fails to deliver the impact while coming out of the movie hall after watching a bond movie...better luck next time bond..

You're right. Very disappointed after Casino Royale. After years of smoooth Bonds, it had brought some real-life grit into the Bond franchise. But now with QOS its gone alllll heavy action (which unfortunately doesn't match upto actual action flicks like Bourne). Dark Knight was MUCH better in conveying a grim/sad action hero.
I've seen QOS and it is definitely NOT as good as Casino Royale! Action is not as good as in the Bourne series and there is abso NO humour, no wit, no smile...sigh..
Wonder why everyone is lambasting Raja Sen. His review might be overlong - but it is absolutely accurate.
