It is sad to note that we confined Naushad ji to remember only by naming a street after him.Remember those soul stirring songs of Baiju Bawra and the Ragas used by Naushad. We remember Mother India,GangaJamuna,Mughal e Azam for the Great Music of Naushad
Once he was asked what is the difference between old and present songs.
Naushad saab said
"Pooraane zamaane ki jab gaana sunthe hai tho hum apni sar (head) hilaate the, lekin ab ke zamaane ki gaana sunthe hai tho pair hilaathe hai (foot tapping).
Wah Naushadji, I salute u for your music and your words
Hindi film songs are getting worse with the passage of time..reasons...influx of mediocre music directors, lyricists and untrained singers....coupled with the populace not having the ears trained to appreciate songs based on ragas and semi classical...or even folk music....catchy songs come and go...still fortunately there are singers like shreya ghosal, sadhna sargam, sonu nigam, shan, alka yagnik, abhijeet who can give the most beautiful songs and techincally the most difficult songs...but at the same time the youngsters need to be trained to accept such songs....i dont understand how songs like those of Onkara and Apka Suroor are appreciated so much....when we can have songs from Jo jita wohi sikander, Lagan, Dil Chahta hai, Hum Tum
Sad such a legend is honored with a road on his name. How would that help? Will people stop using the name Carter Road? Will any new legends be created? Instead why not have a school for classical music in his name. I guess politicians found him fit for the road.

...thank god at least they did that! and am quite surprised Raj Thakrey has not created any issue about this as Naushad saab hailed from UP although he belonged to the whole nation
Its strange this forum has not found any post so far. People want only politics and will find time and energy to pump their feelings immediately on this forum. Great souls like Naushad should be praised by one and all. Long live his music. We thank God for having given us such a great musician. His music will never die or fade.
