Naushad Saheb was undoubtedly one of the all time greats in the world of music. His music was totally Indian and can be heard any number of times without get bored. Naming a road after the great musician is a good step, but of course a School where music is taught might have been ideal.
Kudos to rediff for remembering and giving a writeup on this mausiqar-e-azam (greatest music director). His contribution to Indian film music is unforgetable and his work will always be immortal.
Kudos to your well written article highlighting contribution of the great maestro. It is good to see that musician like Naushad is being remembered still. But lyricists are hardly mentioned or getting due importance they deserve. Sometimes, please remember them also because why we like old songs? It is not the music alone but the lyrics are so powerful which made the impact many times. however,I would like to add that Naushad also gave back ground music for Pakeeza which is worth-mentioning. Also, he gave music to a famous TV serial"the sword of Tipu Sultan"
Thanks to rediff for this excellent piece of Article. Naushad is incomparable. No words would do justice to describe him. He is agift of God to this World. It is so nice to read about him & his creations which take us to different World. Thanks again.
Naushad Saheb should occupy the highest seats of honour in the Indian film industry along with greats like K Asif, Bimal Roy, Dilip Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Balraj Sahini - people the young generation knows hardly anything about. I am waiting for some fanatic moron to make this another topic of Hindu Muslim animosity. These idiots spoil the rare good articles on rediff.
Kudos to Rediff for devoting importance to the Great Naushad. India's film industry has thrived only because of the music and songs by such stalwarts. Music still holds the key. Paying homage to its creators is the least we can do.
