I WON'T SAY THAT ITS AN EXCELLENT MOVIE LIKE TAARE ZAMMEN PE BUT STILL ITS A NICE WATCH..IT IS OVERSIMPLISTIC AND TRIES TO TELL A COMPLEX TALE IN SIMPLE MANNER WHICH AT TIME BECOMES TOO JUVINILE BUT STILL ITS GOOD MOVIE.IT'S HEART IS IN RIGHT PLACE..CARRIES A GOOD MESSAGE WHICH EACH OF US SHOULD UNDERSTAND AND IMBIBE. RAJA SEN IS CORRECT THAT THIS ONE NEEDS TO BE MADE TAX FREE TO LET IT REACH MORE PEOPLE.I CAN ONLY WISH THAT SUBHASH GHAI HAD PUBLICISED IT MORE. IT HAS SOME GREAT PERFORMANCES FROM HABIB TANVEER, ANIL KAPOOR , SHEFALI SHAH AND AN EXCELLENT DEBUT BY ANURAG SNHA..HE SPEAKS WITH HIS EYES AND HI VOICE IS MARVELLOUS..HOPE FULLY WE COULD SEE MORE OF HIM IN THE FUTURE.

Like said by one n all except few jerks who donot undersatnd cinema,its a simple but a very strong intriguing movie wid a global mesaage following widout being preachy... people especially the youth plz go n watch black n white atleast once! cheers!

I think Black and White was a great movie from a man who normally made trash! We must learn to appreciate "real" good cinema and not "artificial" good cinema like OSO and all the superstars who can only look good but never act! Anyone with a gram of intelligence will love this movie!
superb characterization, anurah sinha(the guy who plays uzmair, not sure of name, has done a brilliant job...and the director has really made a mature, not over the top, sober but gripping movie, with a good sensible and believable story line with a message...
another movie i would recommend would be 'DHARM' with pankaj kapoor..

i think the script is really good though technically flwed in some small ways..the director has tried to portray everything realistically and in an understated fashion(unlike most bollywood movies)..yet the movie is intriguing.
it asks some fundamental questions..how uzmair(not sure of name) encounters so many situations where the very idea of islam and the muslims he is fighting for he see how corruopted they have become and have compromised on even the basic virtues ..and each of the incident is shown by the director in a matter of fact way..showing it leaving sutble impacts on uzmair and the st0ry moves on without beating around the bush........................
i LOVED IT...its just something which everyone shud watch...stop relying on reviews..and for once please go ahead and see the movie...den come to a judgement... 4 ppl who didnt like the movie..i just have to say ONE thing.. seriously???? u dont know how to judge a movie...and plz keep ur opinions to urself...another thing...plz clarify why u think the movie didnt work for u...a RATIONAL REASON.... guys go ahead and enjoy the movie!cheers!!!

yeah great movie absolutely...technically one or two weak points but other wise great movie...**** stars from me
As ever, If Raja Sen recommends a movie - never go for it and if he denounces one - never miss it. He denounced Bheja Fry and gave a medicore rating for TZP - you know what happened to those movies. Black and White is a royal trash that has already been offered in several other movies, charactarization is weak, the story is stale and the actors look uninspired. Mr Ghai, after making hi-fi intellectual stuff like Vishwanath, Saudagar, Khalnayak, Trikal, Kissna etc should have better left the direction to others - that produced better stuff like Joggers Park, My Madhuri Dixit... etc. He should restrict himself to Production and let the creativity be handled by others. Everyone can't be a Ray, Nihalani or a Benegal, Mr Ghai.

A great movie and superb performances. Such a movie has come in a long time and is wanted at this age. Kudos Mr. Ghai and special mention for the superb Anil Kapoor, great performance.

I agree with Narendra Tade. Watch the movie yesterday - an absolute piece of trash. Its a family melodrama entailing squeezing out emotions, girls falling for a guy in first looks, songs and dance with no great script, no logical pieces fitting together, poor acting except Shefali. Very unrealistic, bad storyline and pathetic direction. Not to mention, bad acting by lead actor.

If a film"Black" of Leela Bhansali was hit, somone thought to do double hatrick. So now, a film is " black & whote". I do not mind film makers opting for English titles. They can, Like 36 Chowringee Lane or Black. But why this film is called "Black & White", Will Anil Kapoor open his mouth? Who is the director of the film, pls mention it, so that we know the relevance of the film with the title. See how a title called "Om Shanti OM" was mis-placed , not relevant to subject.

no ones gonna spell it out for you so literally like a 2 year old kid..
the title is actually cynical in that it describes how we tend to view the worl in just two compartments..black and white(good and bad)..when there are a million shades of grey in between and no situation, no person and no ideology can be labelled simply black and white..you have to find the reaons for why something is the way it is..the rot causes of things(i.e terrorism).and that is one of the fundemental questions raised in movie
