The thing about a twist in a movie is that one has multiple consequences - it would change the tone, the genre or deliver a sledgehammer-like punch that may be difficult to recover from. Now, as an audience, we claim, (yes, we sure do), that we WANT to be surprised. We would love a story to be told, that we don't find to be predictable. One such movie comes along, and since we now know what's gonna happen, we trash it. Ain't that strange? Why weren't Sixth sense, Fallen, Usual suspects, Unbreakable, Primal Fear and a whole host of other movies reviled for the same reason? Take an actor like Smith, who's genre-hopping like nobody's business, who can also get people to come watch a movie, take the age-old Superhero versus bad guys motif, put that on its head, and go out for a spin, and suddenly we find that unwatchable? What are we trying to say to audiences reading these reviews? Don't watch this, cause I've already made up YOUR mind! Is that it? If so, that is really sad.
My 2 rupees here - go watch it, and make your own mind up. I loved it, even the hand-held shots that Raimi (shaky-cam specialist of the Evil Dead fame) and Singer (remember the last Superman in which he wasted Kevin Spacey, or his twist laden masterpiece 'Usual suspects,; which he made) apparently hesitate using in superhero movies. This is a real original superhero movie that teases - not inspired by graphic novels or tv series, or a remake. And who suddenly made rules about camera movements in movies?

u r right... even absurd wild wild west was entertaining than this one... they couldve made it good. the plot of a drunken superhero had a good potential especially with will smith playing the part... after watching this i feel even Ghost rider was a better flick
Why does this guy always write as if he is appearing for some language examination competition? Even the american reviewer write in simple lingo than him! He reminds me of Navjot sidhu commenting on cricket :)
