As a Tamilian residing in Mumbai, I am thrilled to hear of this news! Yes, Rajni & Kamal will do wonders together! Such good causes has to be encouraged in our country!
Cudos to all who will be involved in this good cause. I just returned from Tamil nadu myself where I was involved in the news of "the graduates of 1987 waiting for the teaching job, and only 3.5% is for reserved for christians and so many dissapointed youth are waiting for the result of the selection etc. it is a heartening news.

I lived in TN for some time
by Gajanan Mohite on Jul 09, 2008 05:13 AM  | Hide replies

I lived in TN for some time , a few yrs. The politics of TN is unique compared to the rest of India. Only AP has shades of cinema cum politics interwined.

I remember in the 60's and 7o;s there were mythological claasics starring Sivaji Ganesh and others were superhits. I could not enjoy them then, but I used to take a Tamil friend who acted as an interpreter. Yes , even with the semblance of the Tamil being understood , I found these mythologicals very interesting and well presented. One film Danveer Karna was dubbed in Hindi and it ran very well in North India. One was always thinking why these films have not been expanded into 70 mm and redigitised for the whole Indian audience again. It can be dubbed into several languages. It has an all India appeal. This was discuused by many in our group several times.

Now seeing this annoucement , which was made several days ago, there has been discussion about this in all the Tamil circles.

The question is why does not somebody expand all the mythologicals of the 60's and 70's into 70 mm and digitise it and give a new look and rerelease it with this film sponsored by the Karunanidhi and company. One cannot remember the names , but the one in which Shivaji Ganesh acts as Lord Shiva would be the best competitor to be released on the same day with this film. No funding reqd . No external agencies required . Good luck and compete with this film to succeed. May the force be with redigitising. Many have like this idea.

I don't why this movie needs to be FUNDED by so n so religious organizations.

Passion of christ nor 10 commandmnts wer ws not FUNDED by religous orgainzations.

I don't think this movie will present facts, b.c they ar probly doin it for money.

It'll be grt if they do this movie like doing a movie based on any religion, bt this funding thing is primarily for money.

The Indian Jews

To be against "Brahminism" is part and parcel of the political correctness of progressive scholars in twenty-first-century India, much like being against Muslims is part of the message of their Hindutva colleagues.

The fifth parallel is that both anti-Semitism and anti-Brahminism have deep roots in Christian theology---- This is the statement of the 21st century.

JAKOB DE ROOVER

This scholar from Univesrity of Ghent has read the mind , psyche and intentions of Karunanidhi and company well.

Jakob De Roover is a postdoctoral fellow of the Research Foundation (FWO) Flanders at the Research Centre Vergelijkende Cultuurwetenschap, Ghent University, Belgium

Ther is no such thing as brahminism or semitism explained in christian theology.

These statemnts ar all made by thes scholars or intellectuals and trying to create this anti-christian, ant-semitism, or anti-brahmanism.

Why don't you read the bible carefully from start to end to see if brahminism or semitism is being talkd abt their.

The "indian jews" have their own version of their religion and it's all being created by those scholars who jst wnts to get their anger out by refusing certain teachings.

Evn the jews were against christians during christ's time and also after tht, since their techings contradicted the pharasiees and the jew scholars during those times.

Get it, the jews scholars had their own religion and evn strayed away from the laws and commandmnts of moses, which is judaism and created their own laws. So christ teachings also contradicted their "scholarly" teachings, and jew scholars were anti-christians, and personally carried out persecution all who spread the teachings.

Only the scholarly teachings consist of anti-chrisitanity, but not the old testament theology. The old testamnt theology is purely law and order to run a society and entirelty diffrnt from the new testamnt.

So yes, old testament(primarly the jews believed in first couple of books) do preach anti- stuff. Add to tht scholarly teachings which ar compltly distort the words of the bible.

Pope Benedict then and Vatican now

Thomas's visit under doubt

NEW DELHI His reluctance to believe what fellow disciples said about Jesus Christ's resurrection earned him the name Doubting Thomas. Centuries later, St Thomas, believed to be the man who brought Christianity to India finds himself in the shadow of ‘doubt' with none other than the Pope contradicting his evangelical trek in the country, only to modify it a few days later. But far from dousing the fire, the Pope has rekindled a debate and given critics an issue on the platter.

Pope Benedict XVI made the statement at the Vatican on September 27. Addressing the faithful during the Wednesday catechises, he recalled that St Thomas first evangelised Syria and Persia, and went on to western India from where Christianity reached Southern India. The import of the statement was that St Thomas never travelled to south India, but rather evangelised the western front, mostly comprising today's Pakistan.

Knowingly or unknowingly, he had in one stroke challenged the basis of Christianity in India and demolished long-held views of church here that St Thomas landed in Kerala, where he spread the gospel among Hindus. The comments were especially a letdown for the Syrian Christians of Kerala, who proudly trace their ancestry to upper-caste Hindus said to have been evangelised by St Thomas upon his arrival in 52 AD.

The comments went unnoticed until Sathya-deepam, the official mouthpiece of the Syro-Malabar church,

Jst as no one has solid proof whtrh thomas landed in south india and tht too in kerala and buried in tamil nadu.

So does the pope had solid proof tht thomas prechd in pakistan and western india.

Westen india ws ruled by portugese first and thts how catholicsm spread.

Thomas preachin in pakistan, give me a break. Ther ar more muslims thn christians. Only the missionaries ar the first person who spread the gospel ovr ther.

Turkey(now muslim country) receivd the gospel from first and also neigboring areas. Not tht far as to pakistan, did the disciples travel.

Pope is one cunning man who thinks he is god whn he states tht india will soon be chrisitanized. It's not upto him and God wouldn't care less to chrisitanize a country, whn israel is still not the holy city ven till now.

Unless the director is as good as mel gibson or cecil b. demille.

Otherwise, it'll be jst one of those religious overtone movies. None of the hollywood made movie based on the bible had ovrtones or complty falsified the word. Alot of research ws taken i.e historical places, books etc.. Hence these movies wer presnted in a good way and not a tool for conversion or making money(religious organizations).

Hope this movie does good research b.f making it jst a tool for making money for some religious organization basically the catholics.
