BHEEMA - BIGGEST FLOP IN TAMIL INDUSTRY
by Austin on Jan 20, 2008 03:09 PM

What is the result of films that had created lot of expectations at the box office? We have not received very enthusiastic responses from various quarters.

After being 3 years in the making, 'Bheema' did not make the expected impact among viewers. This shock has been very difficult for Lingusamy and Vikram to digest.

Though it ran to full houses in Chennai's multiplexes, the crowd at theatres on the outskirts has dwindled after Pongal. It is said that the same result goes for B & C centres.

The producer sold the film for 28 crores, so he is not affected. Till date, 'Bheema' tops the returns for Pongal releases.

'Kaalai' had a grand opening but its popularity faded slowly after Pongal.

Distributors report that it would be difficult for 'Vaazhthukkal' to cross 15 days. Even though 'Pidichirrukku' is fairly good, it stars newcomers, so is slow to pick up. Through reviews, 'Pirivom Sandhippom' has received pass mark.

'Pazhani' is in no great shakes but Perarasu's punch dialogues and fight scenes is actually resulting in a fair run in B & C centres.

'Pokkiri' and 'Thamirabarani' released last Pongal were big hits. Compared to that, one must say that this year's Pongal releases in Tamil have not risen to expectations!

WHAT AN ARTICLE INDIAGLITZ!!
by daniel craig on Jan 20, 2008 02:31 AM  | Hide replies

Vikram, one of the rare actors, who could hold the movie with his performance, has won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his outstanding performance in Pithamagan in 2003. He has also won the 52nd Filmfare South Award for Best Actor for his good performance in Anniyan, 2005.

These awards are just a few indications of the heights Vikram, the outstanding actor is about to reach.

Very few actors would have maintained their charm even if they do not have any releases for a couple of years. Vikram has proved that he is one such actor. Bheemaa came after 26 months of his previous release (Majaa in 2005 November). When Bheemaa was delayed due to financial troubles, Vikram showed his commitment and loyalty towards the project he had taken up. He had actually owned up the project and hence decided to fore go many offers that could have fetched him more fame and crores of money.

It is the commitment and rare talent that make Vikram stand out. When such an actor throws his weight behind a project like Bheemaa, there will be little doubt about the success of the venture. The results pouring from various centers prove this point beyond doubt.

Va....Va...Va......Va.......Va.....Va.....(Bheema style) Billa is there to cut your neck and put "GULLA" for you, vikram and producers. The results pouring from various centers prove this point beyond doubt????????????????
I know u wrote the comments worst against CLASSIC BILLA. This our turn to write about right review(not like you) on PEEEEEEEEEMA.
Vikram is Very good actor. We are not denying that. Overall the Bheema is VERY VERY POOR. I never seen such a worst film in recent times.
Though its having huge hype, the film will go to "CANNE" after 15 days. Dont waste the time here go and watch atleast 5 times within this 15 days. Atleast u can save something for the producer.

BEHINDWOODS THUMBS UP!
by daniel craig on Jan 20, 2008 02:24 AM  | Hide replies

Vikram%u2019s long awaited release ending his sabbatical of more than two years has finally hit the screens. Predictably, Bheema turned out to be a gangster fare with more brawn and less brain. And the ups being, Vikram%u2019s charisma, Prakashraj%u2019s histrionics, Trisha%u2019s vibrancy, and HJ%u2019s music.

Trade Talk:
Thanks to the hype that was generated owing to Vikram%u2019s absence from the scene, the movie has opened to full houses

OUTSTANDING INDIAGLITZ ARTICLE!!!
by daniel craig on Jan 20, 2008 02:15 AM  | Hide replies

The confidence of %u2018Bheemaa%u2019 team is vindicated. The movie, which hits the screen after a lot of troubles and struggles, has been received by the audiences with overwhelming response. The seats for the first few days have been booked within a few hours of the opening of the reservations, inform the theatre sources.

Bheemaa%u2019s opening is second only to that of %u2018Sivaji%u2019. The queues in front of the reservation counters, flood of telephonic enquiries, and heavy traffic over internet bookings are clear indications of the success of the movie.

Sathyam Cinemas screen nine shows a day till January 20. There will be five shows daily at the big screen in addition with daily morning shows in four small screens.

In Abirami complex, %u2018Bheemaa%u2019 tickets are said to be sold out for the first four days all four shows in two screens.

Mayajaal multiplex has an incredible number of shows, i.e., 30 shows per day spread in 9 screens.

With all this, %u2018Bheemaa%u2019 is clearly ahead of the rest of the Pongal movies

There will be many who would appreciate Vikram for his portrayal of a mentally affected person in %u2018Sethu%u2019. His portrayal of a visually impaired in %u2018Kasi%u2019, his handling of a graveyard caretaker with animal instincts in %u2018Pithamagan%u2019, and his unbelievable depiction of multiple personality in Anniyan had many takers and admirers. But Vikram%u2019s dimensions do not confined to these roles alone. He has much

For the makers, artists and technicians who have worked for Bheemaa, and for eager fans of Chiyan Vikram, all of whom have been eagerly awaiting its grand release - the long wait is over. Now, as the movie joins the Pongal blast, it's celebration time for all of them! Does Bheemaa meet fans' expectations? Vehemently, YES!

Bheemaa is a gangster film, dealing with underworld life, but it has a new grittiness and edge to it. It is difficult to imagine any artist other than Vikram in such a powerful role. Vikram breathes life and credibility to the character Sekhar and portrays its contemporary overtones convincingly. We get to see Vikram with a tough look - close-cropped hair, dense beard and small ear studs. His physique and body language communicate the character he portrays - vibrant, tough and unpredictable.

Bheemaa is smartly written and stylishly crafted by Lingusamy. It is the outcome of one-and-half years of sweat and slog; the result cannot be anything but positive.

Dont b fooled by
by daniel craig on Jan 20, 2008 01:51 AM  | Hide replies

THINK SOME MINDLESS GUYS OUT HERE R TRYIN TO MALIGN VIKRAM'S GUD FILM TO PROMOTE FOR THEIR STAR'S FILM!! WE ALL R YET TO READ NEGATIVE REVIEWS ON THIS FILM WHEREAS SOME "WORRIED STAR FANS" R TRYING TO MALIGN IT...OF COURSE THE REAL WINNER WILL BE THE REAL ACTOR ALWAYS N THE WORLD KNOWS WHO IT IS!! HERES INDIAGLITZ!

A lot has been told about the delay over Bheema. Some doomsayers even predicted that the movie would not see the light at all. But the team of Bheemaa was unperturbed. Vikram once said, "Bheema is a sure winner irrespective of when it comes. It is worth waiting for such a film".

Now the movie has seen the light and it has vindicated Vikram%u2019s words.

The whole team deserves applaud for providing us a neat entertainer. Lingusamy, Vikram, Prakash Raj, Ashish Vidyarthi, Raghuvaran, Kanal Kannan, Harris Jayaraj, R.D. Rajasekar and S. Ramakrishnan have done their best to make it a smart and stylish action film. And you have the charming Trisha as a gentle breeze amidst a powerful storm

Vikram has lived up to the expectations with a dominant and flawless performance. If his hard work to become physically strong is praise worthy, his efforts to transform himself as the character are stunning. He reflects the essence of the character both physically and mentally. His body language - particularly his eyes - is awesome. He breaths fire in the stunt scenes. The fights in the rain and in the construction site (intermission point) are astonishing. He also scores

Hi Daniel! First read the above review and then say no negative review. Read the last line of this review 'There's something definitely missing.' Actually it should be read as Everything missing.

Secondly, are you suffering from any blindness? Please read all the reviews of BHEEMA. They say that BHEEMA is ranging from poor to mediocre.

ILAYA THALAPATHI WITH AVM!!
by varunraj on Jan 20, 2008 01:45 AM

Leading young hero Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay and the reputed production house AVM are teaming up for the first time. Vijay has signed up to do a film with AVM, which will be produced by M. Balasubramanian and B.Gurunath Meiyappan.

Balasubramanian is very happy with the venture: %u201CI%u2019m happy to announce that AVM, one of the most prestigious banners in the country will make a big budget entertainment extravaganza with Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay%u201D, said the producer on the occasion.

This film will be launched by the end of the year after Vijay completes his present assignments (%u2018Kuruvi%u2019 directed by Dharani and Ayngaran%u2019s new film to be directed by Prabhu Deva).

Other details like the choice of director, heroine and music director will be worked out soon.

(HEARD THAT AVM HAS DECIDED THEY WILL NOT EVEN GO NEAR POT-BELLIED AJIT AFTER BURNING THEIR GOLDEN JUBILEE BY TAKING HIS FILM "THIRUPATHI!!!" N THEY WANT TO KEEP UP THEIR GUD NAME WHICH THEY EARNED BACK WITH "SIVAJI" SO THEY'VE SIGNED ILAYA THALAPATHI AFTER THE REAL THALAPATHI'S BUMPER HIT)

confusing attitude
by varunraj on Jan 20, 2008 01:39 AM

while not even a single website has given less than 2.5 stars for bheema, its surprizing that some people come here to pass some blind comments saying that its not gud, this clearly shows they r some other actor's fans trying to defame the film...we 7-8 of us watched the film together in kovai, n none of us were disappointed n personally am yet to meet someone who has told that the pic aint gud...confusing attitude by some fans intentionally trying to malign a gud product here, anyways the better ones last longer than just the opening films and these false negative reviews wont affect a gud film, so one shudnt be givin a hear to these chaps here actually, wot say!
