any movie with Rajnikant in it will become a hit unless the film is extremely bad like in Baba. If he stands for elections he will easily become CM of TN.

Baba was a wonderful film with intensely spiritual dialogues and messages. I really wonder why nobody could see the goodness of the movie. Agreed, some scenes were pointing to a political launch, but apart from those, it was an amazing movie. Its entire story is based on the book "Autobiography of a Yogi" by Swami Yogananda, written in 1946. Read that book atleast, it has none of the political stuff :)

Baba - a wonderful film..the greatest joke of the year. I think you have watched the movie in pirated CD.
Its full of clitches, dull, and unimaginave in all aspect of filmmaking. Its good it got flopped otherwise, Rajini would have acted in 10 similar movies.
I rate Rajini's "Ragavendra" 1000 times better than Baba

Ragavendra and baba are different.. Rajni acted as Swami Ragavendra in that old superhit movie, but Baba is about a man who realises there is God. It is a wonderful movie but the story is not for Rajni..Ppl need Rajni with lot of styles and fight not just praying and telling some mantras.. thatz y it flopped.

There are lot of good south Indian movies, with great stories, great performance.
But due to the lack of promotion and due to language barriers, most of these movies go unnoticed by the other parts of India.
I had seen the original of SADHMA, DAYAWAN, VIRASAT in Tamils, the performance was much better compared to the hindi versions.
Recently i had seen a malayalam movie, a story about a blind beggar and his sisters. I was stunned by the natural performance of that actor. and more surprised he did not won a national award? and such movies are not been considered for OSCAR?
When within India, due to language barrier, we are finding difficult to identify and appreciate great movies from South India, how can we expect the western world to understand and appreciate Indian movies??

I presume the actor in this movie is Mani also known as "Kalabhavan Mani". Not able to recollect the name of the movie. He did deserve it( the award), ofcourse the politcs in giving an award to the desrving candidate made its prescence here and he lost it

more than the politics, it is the language barrier. I dont deny that priority is always given to Bollywood stars.
The south indian movies what get released in theatres in our region are with excessive exposure of fat thighs etc OR good dances by prabhudeva etc, Else it will be the Action movies.
no wonder, even in Bollywood, good movies seldom go out of theatres un noticed by masses.

Yes, it was a fabulous performance (by Mohan Lal) outclassing yet another excellent performance (by Mani) and not politics.

Very wellll said .. sooo much agree with u... even i get carried away at times in north-south arguements.. but thn we shud realise we all are indians first... thoda bahut jhagda chalta hai... its natural... but keep this in ur head.. tht we allll are brothers... and our country will really progress only if and when we all move ahead together....jai hind..
