This movie is too realistic to be a Bollywood movie. Here shahrukhs and salmans are sold and not someone like Ranvir Shorey or even Rahul Bose. People here are always in dreamland and they want to see 'nonsense'. So no wonder this movie was a flop. Give them shit movies like 'DDLJ', 'KKHH' and dont know how many others and they will waste whole lot of money to watch it. anyways this was a good movie and Ranvir Shorey is too good!
Read coupla comments and totally agree with the criticism of the review - good study material for GRE/CAT aspirants indeed. The movie has no soul, lacks a flow, and a lot of scenes look as though they are going to lead to something, but they end up meaning little or nothing - quite like the entire movie!!!
I found the movie alright, was really predictable. im just surprised to see tht such a movie got 3.5 stars..would rate it 2/5 as for the chaos made abt the review, after watching the movie, the review just seems like its talking about some other movie...it seems like Raja Sen entered the wrong cinema hall and after realizing it, got into the right one and wrote up the review wth watever movie was left..alas!
Rajat Kapoor has again proved that good movies can be made from low budget.Ranvir Shorey is the Star of the show and will get nomination for best actor. The first half of the film is mass appealing but the second half will be accepted to intense audience or so called "Multiplex audience". This movie for its low profile is not able to draw audience at single screen audience but is never dissapointing for those who are going for it.Well the movie in short is FULL PAISA VASOOL.
Raja Sen the reviewer uses convoluted prose to justify the film which is not even convincingly make-believe!!
Looks like the director went through his exercise drunk on cheap whisky like the hero Ranvir Sheorey! Muddle-headed and confusing treatment is the result!!
I think Sen is plugging the film as have his ex-art film loving, now-multiplex friendly film critics who have constantly proved that they cannot do a twit when they have been asked to walk the talk. Universally this mafia has praised Mithya to sky heights but even the Bheja fry lovers would not want this mishmash of a film!!
May be the Bong connection between the producer and the reviewer is another reason! Bengalis are known suckers for such pseudo-arty stuff, ha ha ha!!
I watched Mithya just for the sake that it was made by the same team as 'Bheja Fry', but it didn't reached my expectations. I wasn't expecting an out & out comedy like bheja fry, but some sensible script & direction is what I demand. Although the movie has an excellent starcast, they all are wasted completely. Ranvir Shorey managed to show his acting potential, but the flaw was with the script. The script goes fine till first half with some humor & some twists but then later it takes the audience on confusion ride...! Climax is nonsensical. I don't have any issues with out-of-the box experimental movies, but then such movies force us to think that the age-old formula based masala movies are far better than such movies.
wathced mithya..found it quite impressing..although the story wasnt that great rajat kapoor with his meticulous effort made it an impressive work..hats off to rnvir shorey for his astounding performance..the best part was that the movie had no lags...it grips you with its twists and turns..moreover i found the movie aptly named..the character live in virtuality..when VK wears the skin of the don over him, he is haunted by the virtuality of his identity...subsequently after the amnesia attack, the virtuality of the character of the don is troubling him, although the virtuality of his identity is no more posing any problems.a very well concieved of thought and well crafted work..i think it should be the best film of the year hitherto...
