It's Mr. SRK who pays media to give 'good' reviews to his silly movies! Inviting journos to have tea with him and asking them to sing his praises all over news channels and internet...that's what he always does! Since your favorite SRK does the same stuff, so you fans think that Aamir too would do the same! Aamir Khan doesn't need to bribe the media to blow his trumpet. The name Aamir Khan, associated with a movie, is more than enough. His name alone is a seal of quality and excellence.

Memento and Ghajini
by kaushik saha on Dec 20, 2008 11:00 AM  | Hide replies

First things first - Ghajini is only an INDIANIZED version of memento, the ending is quite different, so are some parts of the storyline

though I did not want to highlight - Carrie Ann Moss was an waitress in Memento, Nayantara/Jiah are medical students

there are many such differences - none so the fact that Guy's wife had only a minor role in the movie

some people (ignorant, of course) have said its a copy of Guy Ritchie's movie (what a joke) - its a Chris Nolan movie (TDK, Batman Begins fame) - and the lead actor is Guy Pierce

There are also a few very smart souls who have tried to point out that watching Memento requires intelligence while Ghajini is for less-intelligent individuals - well trying to show themselves as admirers of good cinema

a tru admirer of cinema is one who can apreciate the goodness in a movie like The Seven Samurai and even a hindi movie which was loosely based on it - Sholay. Its all about seeing goodness in the movies, and not "this movie is a copy, so it must be rubbish" stuff

There are also a few SRK dala*s who says in the aftermath od Mumbai, watch romantic crap like RNBDJ - well a crap is a crap, whenever it is released. Indian audiences have matured, thats why movies like Bheja Fry and Oye Lucky are admired - people here no longer fall that Rahul Anjali sh*t

Ghajini, will be a huge hit (already the prints and rights have been sold for 80 odd crores) - and Amir Khan will again prove he doesnt need big movie houses(YRF) to act

Jealous SRK fans
by kaushik saha on Dec 20, 2008 10:42 AM

Madame Bovary - Maya Memsaab
A kiss before dying - Baazigar
Nick of time - Baadshah

not to forget Don etc

your so-called romantic baba have acted in these crap remakes - are you proud of it

are you sad that the utter crap RNBDJ is a massive flop (no matter what that hakla and his paid chamchas in the media claims)?

first watch Memento (which I doubt a lot have seen here - they just heard from somebody and are barking here) - adn then see the difference

Amir Khan is perhaps the only actor in the country who can dare to go different and still give us amazing hits - Lagaan, DCH, TZP to name a few.

ya, as far as mega hit movies are concerned - its Akki all the way

you SRK, with his crap mushy-mushy movies where 30 year fat ugly olds (K2H2) play 18 year old college students is not a patch on these two

if people are accusing aamir of doing masala films, then what has SRK been doing all these years? He is no patch on aamir as an actor, SRK is an entertainer and people don't take his clown act seriously, whereas aamir has always known for doing good, sensible cinema. Ghajini might be an adaptation of memento which is fine, you can't make memento in hindi the exact way and sell it to the indian audience becoz a lot of people won't get it, especially people who have grown up on candy floss srk stuff.

if aamir makes sensible cinema, do u call mangal pandey, mela, fanaa, ishq etc as sensible cinema? u must be mad. aamir just utilizes some pretentious nationalistic issue and makes a movie out of it unlike srk who just wants to keep entertaining and has no such pretentions...look at aamir what he is saying that srk is scared to act with him...this after srk openly told that he wants to work with aamir...aamir is a manipulator and is jealous of SRK's global success and popularity...he copied OSO way of distributing film for a profit before its release...he is now hyping ghajni same way as OSO was done...if he wanted to make sensible cinema one need not hype it through ushers in multiplexes, giving media feed every other day abt the movie etc...which just goes to show aamir wants to make his film a hit every possible way and not just provide good cinema as u so stupidly claim...

dude doing a film on a national issue is bad or what? Then what would you call chak de india and swades? were they manipulated cinema. Get a life man, when srk celebrates his birthday in front of the media then nobody will say a word, but if aamir is doing what every other actor is doing that is promoting his movie everyone is acting as if he is commiting a crime. 99% of the people will say undoubtedly that aamir is way ahead of srk as an actor and one more thing he never said that ghajini is sensible cinema, from day 1 when he released the promos he has been stating that it is a hardcore commercial entertainer and completely different from his usual style of films which are sensible and serious. You guys just pick up the wrong signals becoz you can't see anything beyond srk.

I hope Sukanya does not review Ghajini
by Balaji B on Dec 19, 2008 07:39 PM  | Hide replies

The problem I have with Sukanya is, even though her reviews and pithy and poignant, she is clearly the biggest Aamir fan in the world. You can see it from most of her columns, it is all about Aamir gushing. Seriously, Sukanya, have you never heard about a movie called Memento? Why watch the tamil original, watch Memento instead and then think about how shoody a copy Aamir is going to make of it and torture us all with that nostril-flaring, widened-eyes, deep-breathing antics. I cannot believe people are even looking forward to trash like Ghajini. I have seen the original, it just pales in comparison to Memento. The only good thing that will come out of Ghajini-2 is the same that came out of Ghajini-1. The birth of a new star - Asin.

So what if Sukanya's reviews are about Aamir gushing? At least it's a refreshing change from usual SRK gushing that is thrust upon us every day!

BTW, if people can 'tolerate' RNBDJ then why can't they watch Ghajini? People have every right to watch any film they want.

So, obviously, like a lot other people, you do not like SRK-gushing either. Then, how could you tolerate Aamir-gushing if that is the case? What's good for the goose is good for the dander. I do not see a pattern in anyone else's reviews of SRK movies. Raja Sen, who is always blamed for SRK-gushing, gave bad reviews for Don, KANK and RNBDJ. But you can never ever expect Sukanya to give an honest opinion of even bad Aamir movies like Fanaa, you know. I mean, she gave 3 stars for a rubbish movie like Fanaa, imagine that !!

Mr Balaji, Ghajini was never said to be a remake of Memento. It was just misconceptions by retards like urself that it was a remake.
And the sentence "Ghajini pales in comparision to Memento". The only reason that Memento was watchable was thanks to the editor of the movie who himself felt the story was boring, and proposed an idea to the director to make it in the non linear format. If his idea wasnt put to use, Memento ki tho.... Face it, the acting was ordinary and irritating too. If they realy wanted to remake Memento in hindi, there are lot of wooden actors in Bollywood who generally walk around as if they have no idea where they are.

Look at each movie for itself and stop comparing it to others. If u really think like that, the whole world is copying stuff.. I dont see u writing about that. For all u know, u must b copying stuff from others.
Get a life, and stop criticizing ppl publically.

Re: Re: I hope Sukanya does not review Ghajini

Well, you are correct. Ghajini is not a remake of Memento, it is just an indianized "copy" of that fabulous English film. I have seen the tamil original and it is no misconception Nitish, no matter how much Murugadass insists otherwise. And does it matter who proposed what to who? All that matters to me, the viewer, is the end product be worth my time. And while Memento was a serious study and prompted multiple viewings especially for the immense detailing of the timelines, Ghajini was a masala film straight out of the Rajiv Rai school of filmmaking.

If someone is going to give me a plagiarized product, why the heck should I not compare it with the work that it copies from. Maybe you do believe that is not a copy, but a mere "inspiration". He he. No saving you in that case.

"For all u know, u must b copying stuff from others." Err... you mean "For all I know" surely.. LOL.

yes there is no justification whatsoever to call it a copy...when the plot, scripts and the scenes are so different, you are insisting it is a copy. where is the logic in this ????

did you even understand the true plot of the english film? it is not a genuine story of revenge like the indianised versions, only seemingly so.

there is no logic in what you are saying.

Is it not obvious enough for everyone to see that the same film when made in India will sail over the top of most of our viewers and that is the ONLY reason they are sticking to a straight-forward revenge drama instead? Of course it is a copy, with just a slight alteration of the storyline.

Oh action movies aren't liked by people?! Which world are you living in?

Sholay, the Baap of all Bollywood movies was an action flick!

Most of Amitabh's superhit movies were action movies - Deewar, Parvarish, Agneepath, Khoon Pasina etc. to name a few!

Remember Dharmendra's thrillers like Charas and Raja Jani?

What about Dhoom, Dhoom 2, Krissh, Border, Gadar, Khalnayak, Vaastav - didn't these superhit films have action?

It isn't just song and dance routine that the audience likes to see. Don't club your personal taste with the likes and dislikes of the audience.
