I like Amitabh Bachhan as an actor very much, love most of his old movies. But coming to this article, why is this "extravaganza" donating just one lantern to India? As stated according to the statistics, the larger part of the 33% is in India. So does'nt India deserve the larger part of those 100 lanterns? Come on Mr.BigB, try to really make an "unforgettable gesture" to India rather than "atleast one".

Dear Guest, read these statistics as below which are quoted in above article.
1. They will start providing lanterns with one Village during Unforgettable tour. (Each household in first village).
2. Till Feb 2009 they will cover 100 villages worldwide in the same way mentioned in point 1.
3. During their tour itself number of villages will increase in number crossing 100 with new deadline for extra ones.
I think you must be happy now to understand this is really extravaganza of donating lanterns. When we read carelessly this is how we understand what has been understood by you. Instead of wasting time by posting message you should have spent time in reading the article carefully.

Amitabh Bachchan is living legend who has always openly appreciated many other genuine actors like Dilip Kumar, Nasir, Amupam kher for Saransh and Om puri etc.
To become legend one need big heart to accept talent of others. Big B posses this talent and he posses special skills and intelligence which makes him all time great. If you visit and read his blog you will understand through his writings only what knowledge and commanding writing skills this actor posses. He is true legend.
Lot many people tried throwing shit on him but he always came clean. Everybody has started keeping quite because Amitabh started answering every question from his blog so it became difficult for media also to write wrong and cooked up things against him. Great Genius Big B.
At least one honest and decent person in film industry. You could have spent the money buying a gun and going on a deer hunt. Please do not do that. Nobody will save you. Rakesh Nath ek aur Pakistani with changed name. Bachchan donated Barabanki land to farmers. Which world you live in. Millions of people invested in land in India but no body has donated it till now. At least Amitabh realized the game plan of people like you to make it as political issue and shown big heart to donate it back to farmers. Still bhikharis like you are crying.

Look how pretty the picture is! The two are holding lanterns like its the new toy in town.
Would like to know where can one buy those in India. Anyone knows? Is there a site that one can look up and find distributors? Have been looking for such lamps for last couple years. I heard that they may be manufatured only in Bangalore ( some IITian had been funding research and working on distribution) .

I used to have 1 at my home. guess you get everywhere though a bit costly somewhere around 10-15 k Rs.
Someone on the board correctly pointed out, what will happen to the batteries. For these folks who live in mega-cities , living on top floors, what do they know what happens to the rivers and ponds just outside the city boundaries.
Every few years water-poisoning, fish-poisoning. No wonder food costs has gone up by so much despite so much genetics. Why! Why!
Global cleanliness is what should be main focus of everyone. And Germany is doing quite a few philanthropic endeavours all over the world with solar and wind technology. AB and SRK and other kings and queens nede only to donate their "hard-earned" money to these decades-old orgns.
Will someone organise a task force , pay the volunteers to launch on clean-India campaign? Govt and folks need to take lessons from S. Korea, Japan, these industrialised nations but also so aware and mature in all aspects.
Simply bashing pakistan(is) and SRK won't help this overloaded billion-mouths worth country. ( Just 3 Olympic medals, phew!)
