These days supporting global warming and alternate energy is fashionable, but also correct. Why just villages, the lamps should b eopenly sold to everyone. Who says villages alone have no electricity, Outside of Bombay, no city has electricity for 8-12 hours of the day. Surely, my parents and others can do solar lamps, which can be made available to all. Of course, they need to be made available at some price, no free-shree.
I would like to stress more initiative on what Aamir comes out with , or at least lends his voice to, this guy is truley unique - he has supported Narmada, at one time, also voiced need for public urinals all over, and now his initiative for 'restraint and tolerance' towards foreign tourists.
TRuely, when I see how foreign tourists are man-handled an dtaken advantage of in India, I wonder why anyone even bothers visiting the country. All the leery looks, the hoddwinking tactics being employed, shameful..
Amitabh Bachchan is living legend who has always openly appreciated many other genuine actors like Dilip Kumar, Nasir, Amupam kher for Saransh and Om puri etc.
To become legend one need big heart to accept talent of others. Big B posses this talent and he posses special skills and intelligence which makes him all time great. If you visit and read his blog you will understand through his writings only what knowledge and commanding writing skills this actor posses. He is true legend.
Lot many people tried throwing shit on him but he always came clean. Everybody has started keeping quite because Amitabh started answering every question from his blog so it became difficult for media also to write wrong and cooked up things against him. Great Genius Big B.

I am a Hindu and a Maharashtrian. I am proud to be a Hindu and Proud to come from Maharashtra. It doesnt mean I am any less an Indian. Being proud of our ethnicity doesnt mean you are not patriotic... And i hate to burst the bubble but Whatever any film actor, cricketer is however popular .... its not because he is indian or not... he is jsut a famous actor and loved for his acting for better or for worse.... Nationalism in every sphere is really stupid....
AB and his family gets gifts like Bentleys on their birthdays.
The cost of the 100 lanterns will be lower than the cost of the hi-tech headlamps of his Bentley car. or how about the numerous flights first class travelled by his family from US to India during the unforgettable tour to attend to some events. Wake up guys!

First of all Amitabh and co are travelling first class and enjoing a rich lifestyle because they rich. i would understand if they bought all their riches with publics money. they havent.. so whats teh issue here? Are you jealous of their money or their popularity cos get if you are then get in line, its probably quite a long one....

Milind Sabnis bhai people like Azim Premji, Ambani and Birla earn in billions but never donate anything by themselves. Ambani at least adopted few villages for development. So someone from film industry has started doing noble cause then why you are counting his gift amount?
Just cheers and hope others too follow same trend which will ultimately help every Indian.
For your information Big B don't need any publicity because he is famous and popular worldwide, how come you don't know this?

They are not giving only 100 lanterns but lantern to each family in 100 villages.
I have been watching the discussion board since many years now. There have been lot of positive remarks about the great actor Mr.Bachchan. His master strokes via the blog has cleared many many doubts in the minds of people. The artistry in his writing is at par with his acting skills. Truly great personality. There should not be any comparison between Bachchan and other present big actors. He should be left alone and not hurt him through abuses in public domain like this discussion board. God bless him.
