Mr. Kamal Hasan has been chasing his dream of winning an oscar and has been making conscious effort to achieve it every now and then. Though he denies the fact that he loves to get an OSCAR but its the truth that every film-goer in south india (a few in North as well)knows.
He is a wonderful actor who gets into the skin of the charcter he plays. His latest Dasavataram is a classic example of how good he is at scripting a film. The 10 roles he essayed shows his versatality. But I feel the story actually did not demand 10 roles to be played by a single artist. Am sure the budget for Dasavataram turned huge (as against the initial estimation) because he wanted to create a record by portraying 10 different roles. Of course the technical brilliance in the film cant be ignored. Had the film bombed at the box-office, the producer would have blamed our Kamal for his over-excitement to play 10 different roles in a film.
Hope in Marmayogi, he puts script and direction over his personal ambitions and make the film a huge commercial success.
All the Best KAMAL... Hope u rock as MARMAYOGI...!!!
Hope to see u an OSCAR in ur kitty by next year... :-)
Kamal Haasan has already proved that big budget ventures, if marketed well, can bring in huge profits. Dasavatharam is the best example. The movie was publicised well and had a wide reach among the masses and classes. The overall profits of Dasavatharam has crossed 300 crores and is expected to touch 400 crores by the time the movie reaches its 100th day.
We wish Kamal Haasan all the best for his next magnum opus. Marmayogi will sure rewrite box office history.

Vijay Karthik,
Do you know how much is 400 Crores? Do not write just because you know english or you are as Kamal fan. I too am a Kamal fan and let me assure you that Dasavatharam will make a profit of about 20 Crores in the long run. I am aware of this as I know the workings of the film industry.

Excuse me Mr. Veera. I know the workings of the film industry as much as you and I know the difference between 20 crores and 400 crores. If you have the habit of reading newspapers, check out Financial Times,(issued 2 weeks after the release of Dasavatharam). Oscar Ravichandran had openly declared that the profits crossed 150 crore in 10 days. If you know how to browse the internet, visit sites like SIFY, Behindwoods and check out if what I have said is true or not. Do you know that Kamal's salary for Dasavatharam is 20 crores plus 25% of the profit? The overall budget of Dasavatharam is 60 crores. Which ERA are you from? Tamil movies like Sivaji and Dasavatharam have crossed the collections of all recent bollywood blockbusters. Go check the facts and come back, kid.

Hi Karthik, The Kid is back. thanks for the education on reading the newspapers and going through websites. The film has collected about 11 crores from Chennai city alone till date. The profits will be about 35-40% which works out to 4.5Crores. If it had to do 400 crores, then the remaining districts of TN, Karnataka,AP and overseas should contribute 395 crores in profit and the gross should be in region of 750 plus crores. That is roughly 170 Million USD. do you honestly feel that this figure is right. It would have been on the top 20 in the world. I can understand that you are a fan but be realistic.
Like as you said that Kamal has 2o Crores and 25% share in the profit, then his total earnings should be 20 (25% of 400Cr)= 120 Crores. If he got this kind of money he would not be starting Marmayogi with Pyramid, he would rather do it alone.

to veera
get ur basics right bro. dasavatharam was released with 700 prints in south india (275 in TN, 260 in Andhra (telugu version), 80 in kerala and 60-80 in Karnataka), apart from the 60 prints in Non southern states and 190 prints overseas (56 in malaysia, 48 in US, 19 in UK, 18 in canada, 15-20 in the gulf, 12 in srilanka, 4 in singapore etc.). the prints were more than 950 in total, excluding the about to be released hindi version. of these the release in chennai was with 20 prints, which has generated 11 crores revenue. now u can calculate the total revenue

Hi Bro, Chennai is the largest market for Kamal unlike other stars who also have reach in other parts of TN. In the fisrt week itself, there were more than 100 screenings per day in Chennai and it decreased after two weeks. Now if after so many screenings, the total collections ( not profit) is 11 Crores till date, the other smaller regions ( with less ticket cost) should have to generate 700 crores for the kind of profits you are talking about. Let me tell you, the film has been withdrawn across AP with one MINI cinema in Hyderabad screening it ( do a check as Karthik said-SURF) the total collections in US and Europe is less than 750000 USD.Do your math for other regions.

To Mr.Karthik, Mr. veera amd muthukumar were dead right... Dasa collection cant even touch THE BOSS collection of 180 crores all over the world which was given by official Indian BO... At max dasa can collect close to say 90-100 crores... No way it can touch 150 crores... Dont day dream... Be a fan no probs... But be realistic... Kamal has given a good blockbuster... Agreed... In Trichy, Madurai Coimbatore and in so many small center theatres the movie is already been removed... Then how come it will break 150 crores mark.. Come on friend now think and say...
