The movie is well made and script is tight. Scenes have been handled with maturity and performances by the cast are solid. Good watch for family audience.
Rediff reviews are a must read. Do the opposite of whatever is suggested. 90% of the first half was not required at all. I read somewhere that it makes you cry a lot - i did - tears rolled out all the way laughing. Kajol switches on and off given how the director wants to move the story. Poor hubby - gets a erotic dance from his wife and when its about to happen - wifey blanks off. Ha!Ha!Ha! KLPD. Good marketing so it will garner good money and wouldn't be called a flop. Boss, you never get into the character. It looks pretty alien. Make more realistic down to earth movies when you touch upon such themes. A doctor who is able to spend $6500 in one night on a cruise - stays in a palatial and spacious flat in Mumbai many can't even afford in Ulhasnagar - friends have nothing to do but party and one just keeps on buying few alkhs of jewellery for his girl friend many times. Who will get in the mood. It looks like an alien disease that happens to the rich. Pathetic effort!

Well first i would like to state that its a wonderful attempt from Ajay devgan for a first time director, and unfortunately thats one of the very few positives of this film. The cinematography in the film is excellent, top notch It has beautiful locations Good debut from Ajay devgan as a director and Good acting by Ajay and Kajol. But the first half JOKES are SO BORING that you start sympathizing for the dialogue writer The pace of the movie is so SLOW at times, that you become RESTLESS and IRRITATED The second half the movie starts getting little bit interesting, but again with occasional poor third class jokes and an antakshari kind of scene will make one go crazy Ajay devgan acts well, but he has to do something about his horrible DRESSING, Ugly HAIRSTYLE, (He should literally fire his stylist) and put some weight on his face, it really looks sucked up on the screen The background score is nil, at time you feel the film is so silent that you think something is wrong with the theater The Songs barring the Title song at the very start of the movie and second half saiyan song, are boring Best part of the film is the first 7-10 mins and the last 10 mins which is EXCELLENT rest to sit and watch you need guts man, the story is undoubtedly good but the pacing of the movie is so sSlLoOwW that you will be left disappointed. Some of the Ajay devgan fans may be offended, But at the end of the day, it was indeed something different and worth a watch, But you really need

It is not a copy, look at the spoilers for notebook which the story revolves around an older man, only concept is similar with different plot to it.
Wonderful film made. A sensitive subject with a message for everyone who think this may not happen to me --- love your family and take care of them when they need you while suffering from such disease.
To all the Mallus who are planning to watch this movie-it's an adaptation of the Mohanlal starrer thanmathra.Instead of the male protaganist getting an early onset Alzhemiers, here it's the wife [Kajol] who gets it. Talking about positives,Kajol has acted well.Devgun has done a decent job as a director, considering the fact that this is his directorial debut-he can only get better! There are 2 couples who play an imp role in the moves and except for Sumeet Raghavan who acts v well indeed, the rest 3 are forgettable.Songs are good. On the downside,Devgun's attempts to woo the lady will really make you squirm esp if like me,you too have been enamoured by his acting skills in movies like Omkara,Khakee,Apaharan etc. However he comes on his own in the 2nd half playing the role of a man in mental turmoil. The ending of the movie is distictly different from the original Malayalam one in that the patient with AD lives on to enjoy her 25th anniversary-of her wedding and the year he diagnosis was made.Surely the psychiatrists and families of patients with AD will be wondering what those 'new neurodilators' were as alluded to in the movie!!The drug companies will be happy though! Devgun seemed to be confused as to which path he should take-show AD bravely and hence kill his leading lady and thus perhaps the BO colections as well or compromise heavily on the medical facts and show that they lived happily ever after bOllywood style!?He opted for the latter and should perhaps look at Amir Kha
The film begins as an older Ajay(Ajay Devgan) tries to woo the older Piya(Kajol Devgan) by telling her a story.
Over-all the story in the first half is entertaining with its wonderful scenery and rich look. At the interval point the twist comes and the second half goes heart-touching.
I went to the movie expecting something from Kajol, my favourite actress. As everyone knows she is one of the all-time-bests the industry has. She did good. But to my surprise this movie belongs to Ajay - both as an actor and as a director.
Adequate Care was taken- 1) To not let the emotional scenes go in a simple way. 2) To not let them be over-dosed.
Now a days, just to make money, some well-known directors are making wrong movies on extra-marital affairs. People who feel sad seeing such odd movies will be happy seeing "U ME AUR HUM" - a positive movie supporting the marriage relation. Hats Off Ajay and Kajol.
My personal favourite scene in the movie was when Ajay goes to Hospital to bring back Piya.
The following is the review of film 'Notebook'. So how is this similar to U me...?
The Notebook is an epic love story centered around an older man who reads aloud to an older, invalid woman whom he regularly visits. From a faded notebook, the old man's words bring to life the story about a couple who is separated by World War II, and is then passionately reunited, seven years later, after they have taken different paths. Though her memory has faded, his words give her the chance to relive her turbulent youth and the unforgettable love they shared.
As teenagers, Allie (Rachel McAdams) and Noah (Ryan Gosling) begin a whirlwind courtship that soon blossoms into tender intimacy. The young couple is quickly separated by Allie's upper-class parents who insist that Noah isn't right for her. Several years pass, and, when they meet again, their passion is rekindled, forcing Allie to choose between her soul mate and class order. This beautiful tale has a particularly special meaning to an older gentleman (James Garner) who regularly reads the timeless love story to his aging companion (Gena Rowlands).
